After a year of unprecedented challenges, local governments in the Twin Counties are ready to leave 2020 behind. As the nation continues battling a pandemic, many local businesses are struggling to stay afloat and local governments are grappling with the anticipated 20% state aid cut. âThe biggest challenge we had to deal with has been the virus,â Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell said. âIt hasnât been easy for our staff, for our residents. Our health department has done a heck of a job in dealing with it. Theyâve been overwhelmed at times, but I think theyâre doing a great job.â
