Councils agree to 'common-sense' approach when it comes to maintaining county's roads Two councils have agreed to a 'common-sense' approach when it comes to maintaining roads within each other's boundaries. Lancashire County Council and Blackpool Council have agreed to take on responsibility for the maintenance of a number of road lengths within each other's boundaries in order to improve efficiency in regards to best practice. The Lancashire/Blackpool boundary cuts across a wide urban area, with the result that each council is currently responsible for inspecting and maintaining only part of a number of roads, with the other council looking after the remaining length of the same road.
