An Ocala 18-year-old was shot Friday afternoon at an apartment complex and rushed to a hospital.The shooting happened hours after a 16-year-old was shot and killed at another apartment complex across town.Ocala police say the 18-year-old was shot at the Promenade at Ocala apartments.The shooting happened in the middle of the afternoon at a complex with many children. Police are still searching for the person or persons that shot the teen.Hours before, a 16-year-old was killed in a burst of gunfire at the Sutton Place apartments across town.“Please, please, please help. I don’t know if somebody’s hurt or not. I can’t go out the door. Oh Lord have mercy, Jesus,” a terrified woman said in a call to 911 operators.That shooting happened close to 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Police found a 16-year old boy hit multiple times from the gunfire. Though he was taken to the hospital, he died a few hours later.Many people called 911 for help while taking cover in their own apartments.“I’m trying not to talk too loud because I don’t know if they’re still back there. And I got my babies in here,” another person told 911 operators.This is the second deadly shooting of a teenager Sutton Place apartments in the past year. In December, 15-year-old Chris Chevelon was killed.Ocala police say they’re now working to figure out who’s behind both of the latest shootings and whether they are connected.
