Mass. - An inmate at the Worcester County House of Corrections is charged with running an unemployment fraud scheme from jail. Four people are charged in the scheme. The Attorney General's Office said Darnell Harris stole personal information of inmates and other people to get money from the Massachusetts’ Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Program. The Worcester County Sheriff's Special Services Unit discovered the scheme. "We monitor everything that happens here on a daily basis. All the phone calls, all the mail, we keep a close tab on all things going on. One of our investigators started noticing odd pieces of mail. Some of the information that was in it caught their attention and as they started digging into this, they started realizing these were inmates stealing unemployment money,” said Superintendent David Tuttle.
