By: Times News Service Muscat: The University of Nizwa has become the first to establish the UNESCO Chair for Aflaj Studies in the world. A statement issued online by the Oman News Agency (ONA) said, “The University of Nizwa announces the establishment of the UNESCO Chair for Aflaj Studies (Agrohydrology) at the university, and appoints Dr Abdullah bin Saif Al-Ghafri as a professor for this chair, which is the first UNESCO Chair in a private university in the Sultanate for the studies of aflaj in the world.”
