The University of the Philippines-Visayas is hosting a 3-day national online conference on February 22, 24, and 26. The nation conference gathers prominent media personalities, educators, civil society representatives, and advocates to discuss disinformation and democracy in various contexts – media, health, law and governance, and education. The unprecedented growth of digital platforms, especially social media, in the last decade has intensified the call to fight disinformation. Dubbed as UP Visayas’ largest gathering of media personalities, advocates, and academics, the 3rd National Conference on Democracy and Disinformation will be running under the theme, “New Normal, New Media: The Emerging Challenges of Disinformation in the Philippines.”
