Apr 10, 2021 10:14 AM Brighton Council has decided not to pursue a civil claim regarding flooding of Lake Ontario at this time. Council retained legal counsel last year regarding the unprecedented levels of Lake Ontario since 2017, The Baker-McKenzie firm was been asked to determine the viability of the municipality pursuing a civil claim for the losses related to Lake Ontario shoreline flooding. Various recommendations were been brought forward to council earlier this month. They have decided not to take further action at this time. In a press release from the CAO, it says Mayor Ostrander and council remain committed to working with Federal partners to see relief of the flooding.
