26 May 2021, 12:05 am USB-C or USB Type C would soon have a power upgrade, now to be called "USB-C 2.1" which increases the delivery capacity of the cable from 100W to 240W, intended for next-generation computers. While the world is awaiting the arrival of computers with more USB-C compatibility, speculations of Apple retaining the universal port appear. While USB-C is known to be in the 3.1 numbers now, it would have its latest iteration to USB-C 2.1, which would hold the upgraded version of the cable with further power capabilities. Most of the laptops which charge via USB-C now are either under the 100W category with Apple's MacBook Pro M1 at 61W or uses a non-detachable USB-C charger at more than 100W.
