By Larry Spilman Jul 7, 2021 Now is the time to get vaccinated against the coronavirus if you've been putting it off says Orange County Health Director Dr. Raul Pino. The county's latest COVID numbers- including cases, positivity rate and hospitalizations are all trending in the wrong direction. "The new cases are mostly concentrated- highest percentage is between 15 and 34 years old-" Dr. Pino said. "and that's the age where we have the most unvaccinated people- besides younger than 12 who are not eligible for the vaccine." And Dr. Pino says the most sobering statistic suggests most deaths from the virus were preventable. "95% of our hospitalizations (since early February) were among unvaccinated people. 95% of all deaths that we have since that date until today were among unvaccinated people."
