VENICE – Venice City Council members will consider a proposed new schedule of fees for Development Services, something that had been planned for last March but was bumped because of the COVID-19 pandemic. One thing prompting the discussion is an analysis by MGT Consulting Group that showed that, while building permit fees bring in more than required to service clients, fees related to the planning department do not cover even half the cost of the work required. The study involved a review of financial reports, as well as conversations to determine how staff does its work and development review of a cost model.
