Facebook Share Violent crime in unincorporated Jefferson County dropped nearly 14 percent in 2020, with the biggest decrease taking place in Center Point, according to statistics released by the sheriff’s office Wednesday. Sheriff Mark Pettway said overall crime in Center Point was down 27 percent, and homicides there were down 43 percent. Crime in Center Point has long been a concern of residents there, but the sheriff said the perception is worse than reality. “Center Point was not as big as an issue as thought,’' he said.
