Four alternatives being considered as original plan to disrupt traffic met with neighborhood objection. The goal is to find a replacement for a plan that was rejected last year. An original proposal that would have placed barriers at the intersection of East River Road, 24th Street Northeast and Riverside Lane was eliminated after neighbors voiced concerns about the potential to force traffic onto nearby streets. At the same time, the project is a response to other residents in the area, who petitioned the city to address concerns related to cut-through traffic, vehicle speeds, poor sight lines, and safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
