Volcanic tsunami hazards: What can the Santor

08 June 2023/Kiel. 3,600 years after the great Minoan eruption of Santorini, researchers from GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel in an international collaboration, study the marks that have been imprinted in the seafloor around the Greek archipelago to find out what caused an ancient tsunami. Their findings have now been published in the scientific journal Earth and Planetary Science Letters and will contribute to a better tsunami hazard assessment also at other marine volcanoes.
