One countywide issue will be decided, and some more localized issues are also under consideration. Fairfield County Board of Elections Deputy Director Brett Riffle said there have been a "decent amount" of early voters since the beginning of the early voting period in April. "There was more interest going into this election than we thought. In the first two days, we had about 20 to 30 people a day, which I thought would have been the total for the entire election," Riffle said. "But it's been steady every day. (As of Thursday), we've had 590 early voters here in the office." He added the board of elections has mailed about 1,000 ballots to citizens around the county, and about half of them have been returned.
