The Vernon Parish School Board met at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021. The Board recognized Samantha Westerfield from Parkway Elementary as the VP Elementary Teacher of the Year; Donna Adams from Leesville Junior High as the Middle School Teacher of the Year, and Summer Peters from Leesville High School as High school teacher of the year. Mr. Curtis Clay added two Head Start policies to the agenda for Tuesday's meeting. Mr. Tim Woods addressed the status of the DCIP Grant â this grant is for schools that are at least 20% enrolled by military families that are in the military communities but are not on the military installation. Schools covered by this grant are Leesville Junior High and High School and Pickering Elementary, Junior High and High School. The District is waiting to hear from the OEA for the go ahead to begin the addition of building to the school properties. Architects have been hired and meetings with the individual schools regarding the inside structure are underway.
