We begin with the horrific story out of virginia. A reporter and photographer murdered live on television. We are learning more about the victims as their loved ones speak out about the latest case of workplace violence. More information shedding light on the dark past of the man who pulled the trigger. Kala rama joins us as we all try to wrap your heads around this unthinkable tragedy. Reporter right, the tragedy of what happened on a live morning newscast has been felt by stations and viewers across the country. We have seasoned security wrapped up at most wrapped up at most stations. Reporter a Community Devastated by a violent attack playing out on live tv gathered for a vigil honoring reporter Alison Parker and photographer adam ward. It was a love that was genuine, a love that i hope everybody else gets to experience once in their life. Reporter parker and ward were attacked early yesterday morning doing a live report on a nearby lake in popular tourist spot. The confusion after the video cut out is apparent on the anchor. They were gunned down by a former coworker, vester flanagan. Two years ago he worked at the same station going by the on air name of Bryce Williams. He was disgruntled in every sense 679 world. He of the word. He left two years ago. Now here he is executing a mission to commit murder. Reporter in the hours after the shooting while flanagan was on the run, he posted on twitter saying adam went to hr after working with me one time and, quote, alison made racist comments. Flanagan claims he was a victim of racism and sexual abuse and mistreated for being gay and black. His former news director says all the allegations are not true. After a lot of investigation internally and externally, all of his allegations were deemed to be unfounded. Flanagans Family Friends spoke last night offering prayers for the victims. Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the victims family and with Wdbj Television station family. Thank you. Reporter and there was a third victim, Vicky Gardner who was shot and injured. She is still in the hospital after undergoing surgery. Ken . Kala, thank you. A growing memorial outside of that tv station in roanoke, virginia, where the victims worked. Adam ward also found love at the station. He was engaged to the morning shows producer who was watching the shooting as it happened from the control room. So very heartbreaking. Also we know the identity of an 8yearold girl hit and killed by a car in brooklyn. She was hit walking across east 22nd street in flatbush. Police say she stepped out into the street from behind a parked truck. The driver stayed at the scene and was immediately attacked by an eyewitness. We will get a live report ahead at 5 00 a. M. Now to an Eyewitness News exclusive. We are hearing for the first time from the brother of the captain of the missing fishing boat off the coast of new jersey. The el jefe disoveryesterday but no sign of the discovered yesterday but no sign of the victim. I will not give up hope. Reporter martin says he cant yet except that his little brother is gone. They found the boat off sandy hook but they have not located his brothers body. Fishing is all thomas ever wanted to do. Since he was a little boy on the beach, he said, tim, i was 6, he was 4, he said i want my on boat. Reporter he had boats as a young man and kept them in marinas in far rock away. When he was retired he bought the 40foot steel hull fishing boat el jefe. It took on water and sunk. Debris was found by divers and rescue workers. It was kept at the belford marina. Others say i had was not in great shape. It was double plated once because the bottom was so bad. That was probably three, four years ago. Not good steel it was replated with. Reporter the search for the captain was suspended yesterday in choppy and dangerous waters. The boat has not been brought up from the sea. The man caught on Surveillance Video early this month in bensonhurst. Police say he followed a 34 yearold woman, grabbed her from behind and began kissing her neck. When the woman resisted, the man took off on foot. The suspects in a fiery crash that killed a father and his two Young Children are due back in court. Oneil sharp junior is accused of driving drink when he crashed into the back of the car lasts month. The District Attorney said he will show video in court of the suspect throwing a liquor bottle out of his cars window after the crash. Three other men are facing charges. There are reports that Rosie Odonnells teenage daughter left home after missing for a week. She turned 18. The same day she left her home in Rockland County with her birth mother. Reports say the two are in wisconsin. This is days after Steven Sheerer was accused of sending picture. She was found in sheerers home in new jersey last week. Jubilation turns to sadness over the death of a twin panda born at the national zoo over the weekend. The panda was the smaller of the twins. Their mother gave birth saturday and both cubs appeared to be doing well. Yesterday morning when the cubs were swapped out to nurse, care takers noticed the smaller one was weaker and having respiratory problems. Our panda team began administering antibiotics, fluid, nutritional support as appropriate. We did see slight improvement in the cubs overall condition and behavior, things turned. The zoo says the larger cub appears healthy and is behaving normally. Triple crown winner American Pharoah is back on new york soil this morning. The history making colt arrived in saratoga ahead of this weekends traverse stakes. He could run into the record books again on saturday. If American Pharoah wins, he will be the second horse to win the triple crown and traverse stakes and the first to do so in 74 years. Happening today, the Washington Monument is set to open as scheduled after the second elementary issue elevator issue in as many days. Two expectant moms were trapped. From altitude to attitude, new details about turbulence in the form of a chaotic fight. Fight, not flight. On a plane after it landed at kennedy airport. Police tell us that Jean Ballentine tried to climb over another passenger on a jetblue flight from jamaica. When that woman pushed her off, ballentine allegedly punched her in the face and scratched a male passenger with an eyebrow razor. Had to be some sort of situation. That woman allegedly pepper sprayed ballentine. How do you get pepper spray on a plane . Both were charged with weapons violations. I couldnt take my razor on a plane. For the second time this week the state of louisiana is mourning an officer killed in the line of duty. Officer henry was responding to an incident. It left a woman dead and two others in the hospital. One eyewitness said he knew the suspect and the fallen officer. This officer basically raised me. I seen this officer for years. He has been a part of the deputies that Police Station for years. He would motivate me when i was in sports and band and all that good stuff. The suspect is under arrest. He faces two separate first degree murder charges. Officer nelsons death came two days after Louisiana State trooper Stephen Vincent died after being shot over the weekend. Some of the Worlds Largest automakers are being sued over a defect linked to keyless ignitions. The vehicles did not shut off when the key, what is called a fob was removed from the car. The vehicles were parked in the victims garage and Carbon Monox
