We begin with the horrific story out of virginia. A reporter and photographer murdered live on television. We are learning more about the victims as their loved ones speak out about the latest case of workplace violence. More information shedding light on the dark past of the man who pulled the trigger. Kala rama joins us as we all try to wrap your heads around this unthinkable tragedy. Reporter right, the tragedy of what happened on a live morning newscast has been felt by stations and viewers across the country. We have seasoned security wrapped up at most wrapped up at most stations. Reporter a Community Devastated by a violent attack playing out on live tv gathered for a vigil honoring reporter Alison Parker and photographer adam ward. It was a love that was genuine, a love that i hope everybody else gets to experience once in their life. Reporter parker and ward were attacked early yesterday morning doing a live report on a nearby lake in popular tourist spot. The confusion after the video cut out is apparent on the anchor. They were gunned down by a former coworker, vester flanagan. Two years ago he worked at the same station going by the on air name of Bryce Williams. He was disgruntled in every sense 679 world. He of the word. He left two years ago. Now here he is executing a mission to commit murder. Reporter in the hours after the shooting while flanagan was on the run, he posted on twitter saying adam went to hr after working with me one time and, quote, alison made racist comments. Flanagan claims he was a victim of racism and sexual abuse and mistreated for being gay and black. His former news director says all the allegations are not true. After a lot of investigation internally and externally, all of his allegations were deemed to be unfounded. Flanagans Family Friends spoke last night offering prayers for the victims. Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the victims family and with Wdbj Television station family. Thank you. Reporter and there was a third victim, Vicky Gardner who was shot and injured. She is still in the hospital after undergoing surgery. Ken . Kala, thank you. A growing memorial outside of that tv station in roanoke, virginia, where the victims worked. That was the father there. Alison just moved in with her boyfriend and anchor at the station. They had plans to marry. Spoke last night. Adam ward also found love at the station. He was engaged to the morning shows producer who was watching the shooting as it happened from the control room. So very heartbreaking. Also we know the identity of an 8yearold girl hit and killed by a car in brooklyn. She was hit walking across east 22nd street in flatbush. Police say she stepped out into the street from behind a parked truck. The driver stayed at the scene and was immediately attacked by an eyewitness. We will get a live report ahead at 5 00 a. M. Now to an Eyewitness News exclusive. We are hearing for the first time from the brother of the captain of the missing fishing boat off the coast of new jersey. The el jefe disoveryesterday but no sign of the discovered yesterday but no sign of the victim. I will not give up hope. Reporter martin says he cant yet except that his little brother is gone. They found the boat off sandy hook but they have not located his brothers body. Fishing is all thomas ever wanted to do. Since he was a little boy on the beach, he said, tim, i was 6, he was 4, he said i want my on boat. Reporter he had boats as a young man and kept them in marinas in far rock away. When he was retired he bought the 40foot steel hull fishing boat el jefe. It took on water and sunk. Debris was found by divers and rescue workers. It was kept at the belford marina. Others say i had was not in great shape. It was double plated once because the bottom was so bad. That was probably three, four years ago. Not good steel it was replated with. It happened so fast, many wonder what could have caused it. You have to count your blessings every time you come in. You dont realize how dangerous the industry can be. Reporter the search for the captain was suspended yesterday in choppy and dangerous waters. The boat has not been brought up from the sea. It may contain the answers that the family and searchers are looking for. Jim dolan, channel 7 Eyewitness News. New video of a man wanted for a Sexual Assault in brooklyn. The man caught on Surveillance Video early this month in bensonhurst. Police say he followed a 34 yearold woman, grabbed her from behind and began kissing her neck. When the woman resisted, the man took off on foot. The suspects in a fiery crash that killed a father and his two Young Children are due back in court. Oneil sharp junior is accused of driving drink when he crashed into the back of the car lasts month. The District Attorney said he will show video in court of the suspect throwing a liquor bottle out of his cars window after the crash. Three other men are facing charges. The storm itself, this Tropical Storm system is really getting ready to pass over parts of puerto rico and the caribbean where they need rain. There are reports that Rosie Odonnells teenage daughter left home after missing for a week. She turned 18. The same day she left her home in Rockland County with her birth mother. Reports say the two are in wisconsin. This is days after Steven Sheerer was accused of sending picture. She was found in sheerers home in new jersey last week. Jubilation turns to sadness over the death of a twin panda born at the national zoo over the weekend. The panda was the smaller of the twins. Their mother gave birth saturday and both cubs appeared to be doing well. Yesterday morning when the cubs were swapped out to nurse, care takers noticed the smaller one was weaker and having respiratory problems. Our panda team began administering antibiotics, fluid, nutritional support as appropriate. We did see slight improvement in the cubs overall condition and behavior, things turned. The zoo says the larger cub appears healthy and is behaving normally. Triple crown winner American Pharoah is back on new york soil this morning. The history making colt arrived in saratoga ahead of this weekends traverse stakes. He could run into the record books again on saturday. If American Pharoah wins, he will be the second horse to win the triple crown and traverse stakes and the first to do so in 74 years. Happening today, the Washington Monument is set to open as scheduled after the second elementary issue elevator issue in as many days. Two expectant moms were trapped. From altitude to attitude, new details about turbulence in the form of a chaotic fight. Fight, not flight. On a plane after it landed at kennedy airport. Police tell us that Jean Ballentine tried to climb over another passenger on a jetblue flight from jamaica. When that woman pushed her off, ballentine allegedly punched her in the face and scratched a male passenger with an eyebrow razor. Had to be some sort of situation. That woman allegedly pepper sprayed ballentine. How do you get pepper spray on a plane . Both were charged with weapons violations. I couldnt take my razor on a plane. For the second time this week the state of louisiana is mourning an officer killed in the line of duty. Officer henry was responding to an incident. It left a woman dead and two others in the hospital. One eyewitness said he knew the suspect and the fallen officer. This officer basically raised me. I seen this officer for years. He has been a part of the deputies that Police Station for years. He would motivate me when i was in sports and band and all that good stuff. The suspect is under arrest. He faces two separate first degree murder charges. Officer nelsons death came two days after Louisiana State trooper Stephen Vincent died after being shot over the weekend. Some of the Worlds Largest automakers are being sued over a defect linked to keyless ignitions. The vehicles did not shut off when the key, what is called a fob was removed from the car. The vehicles were parked in the victims garage and Carbon Monoxide leaked in their home. You get out of the car and you leave your interior lights on, you go a way for 15 seconds, turns them off. Why cant you turn the engine off and avoid the needless deaths. More than two dozen keyless complaints have been lodged since 2009. We are closing in on 5 00. We are following the developments on the investigation into the shooting with a report from virginia. A family is heartbroken with news of the death of an 8year old girl killed trying to cross the street. Why the driver who hit her is in a hospital right now. The real life horror that killed two young journalists in virginia was caught on Live Television during a morning news broadcast. This morning people across the country are remembering those victims. Reporter Alison Parker was 24 years old. Photographer adam ward was 27. Kenneth moten has reaction and background from police. Reporter the intensive investigation continues. The community is honoring the fallen journalists that have Bright Futures ahead. Late into the night investigators searched for clues and answers at the home of the man accused of gunning down two roanoke Television Journalists live on television. It didnt register it was gunshots. It probably should have but she was doing a feature story. Reporter Alison Parker and adam ward were in the middle of a live interview with the former colleague opened fire. The news crew was killed. The woman they were interviewing seriously injured. Flanagan died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. At some point in his life it would appear that things were spiraling out of control. Reporter the 40yearold that went by Bryce Williams on the air had a history of to station. In a rambling manifesto sent to abc news after the shootings he wrote, why did i do it . The Church Shooting in charleston was the tipping point. Steadily. I have been a human powder keg for a while waiting to go boom. Memorials and prayer vigils have taken over the community. Ward was engaged to a woman machine that happened to be in the control room at the time of the shooting. Parker was in love with her boyfriend, wdbj anchor chris hurst. I lost the love of my love. Reporter the shooter posted a video of his attack online and went on a twitter rant about his victims. The police have that evidence which has been removed from social media and were replaced with support from fellow journalists tweeting the we stand with wdbj. A threealarm fire in new jersey has burned through two homes in plainfield. This is new video. The flames broke out on east Second Street and spread to the house next door. No injuries have been reported. Only one of the homes appears to have been occupied. A young girl was hit and killed by an s. U. V. In brooklyn and moments after that deadly crash, the driver of that s. U. V. Was attacked. It happened on east 22nd street in flatbush. Eyewitness News Reporter toni yates is live at the scene with more. Toni . Reporter yes, indeed, shirleen, a sad, sad accident for the family and the neighborhood that loved this little girl who was an of a individual sports fan avid sports fan. She is being remembered with two candlelight vigils on east 22nd street where she played with her friends and where her life ended tragically. Jadann williams was just 8 years old. Investigators say after 5 00 in the afternoon, williams was playing behind a double parked delivery truck just as she went out into the street an s. U. V. Was driving around that truck and struck the little girl. She suffered severe head trauma. Trained experts in cpr who happened to be nearby tried to save her. The driver of the s. U. V. Reginald august stayed at the scene. Police say after the accident, he was punched by a man that knew the child. Ryan roman is facing assault charges. Williams family are coping with this unbelievable loss. She was playing ball with her friends and then i went to the corner store over there, came back and everybody was around the block. I get closer and i realize that is here. I was like, oh, my god. Reporter i didnt dan williams was Jadann Williams was pronounced dead. The driver stayed at the scene. He was taken to the hospital for injuries he suffered after he was punched. A tragedy all around. We are live in flatbush, toni yates, channel 7 Eyewitness News. What a tragedy. Thank you, toni. A young firefighter in new jersey is free on bail this morning amid charges that he called in himself more than a dozen false alarms. 18yearold justin tran joined the volunteer unit investigators say the fake calls began last month. As for a motive when he was interviewed by detectives, he said he was a probationary fireman with the department, new to the Fire Department and he was trying to get himself experience. Tran is causing a false public alarm. In the race for the white house, democratic candidate Hillary Clinton will be in ohio today after reversing course and answering questions about the email scandal. Mrs. Clinton spoke at a Campaign Stop in iowa. When asked about the private server she kept during her time, clinton seemed more contrite acknowledging it was not a good decision. It clearly wasnt the best choice. I should have used two emails, one personal, one for work and i take responsibility for that decision. Federal investigators say they found material they deemed classified in dozens of emails on her server. Clinton claims they were not classified at the time they were sent. New details in the battle between donald trump and Univision Jorge ramos. His boss is coming down hard. He released a statement that says mr. Trump demonstrated complete disregard for him and the countless hispanics who jorge seeks to represent through press questions that are at the heart of the first amendment. This will be something to watch. The real question is if the storm will really reorganize and intensify. It has been an unstable storm. A community is stunned and family, friends and coworkers of two young journalists killed on Live Television are searching for answers. Alison parker just moved in with an anchor from the television station and were planning to marry. Adam ward was engaged to the morning show producer. Kala rama joins us with the latest. Reporter its stories like that that touched everyone. The tragedy that happened on the live morning newscast has been felt by stations and viewers across the country. We have seen security ampd up at most stations and at wdbj an outpouring of support. Reporter a Community Devastated by a violent attack playing out on live tv gathered for a vigil honoring reporter Alison Parker and photographer adam ward. Parkers boyfriend shed light on their relationship. It was a love that was genuine, a love that i hope everybody else gets to experience once in their life. Reporter parker and ward were attacked early yesterday morning doing a live report on a nearby lake and popular tourist spot. The confusion after the video cut out is apparent on the anchor. They were gunned down by a former coworker, vester flanagan. He later died after shooting two years ago he worked at the same station going by the on air name of Bryce Williams. He was disgruntled in every sense of the word but he left two years ago. Now here he is executing a mission to commit murder. Reporter in the hours after the shooting while flanagan was on the run, he posted on twitter saying adam went to hr after working with me one time and, quote, alison made racist comments. In documents sent to abc news yesterday morning, flanagan claims he was a victim of racism and sexual abuse and mistreated for being gay and black. His former news director says all the allegations are not true. After a lot of investigation internally and externally, all of his allegations were deemed to be unfounded. Flanagans Family Friends spoke last night offering prayers for the victims. Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the victims family and with Wdbj Television station family. Thank you. You saw alison interviewing someone on Live Television moments before the shooting. That was the third victim, Vicky Gardner. She was shot and injured. She is doing okay. She is recovering after surgery. The Small Community is coming together in grief placing flowers, balloons and candles at a growing memorial outside the tv station in roanoke where the victims worked. Alison parker was only 24 years old, has just moved in with her boyfriend and anchor for the same tv station. They had plans to get married. He and her broken hearted father spoke last night. Today jurors in New Hampshire will here the closing arguments in the case of a teenage boy accused of raping a freshman girl at a prep school. Owen took the stand yesterday where he testified he never had sex with the girl accusing him of rape. The then 15yearold said the rape happened as part of a senior salute at st. Pauls school when the seniors try to have sex with under class man before graduating. He said the two did not have sex and he was lying when he told his friends they did. It was a joke.
