Two brothers have been found not guilty of theft in the New Plymouth District Court. Matthew David Coxhead and Regan Donald Coxhead appeared before Judge Gregory Hikaka in a judge-alone trial. The trial began on February 22 and has been a stop-start affair with a number of adjournments to hear legal arguments in chambers with the public excluded. By the end of the trial, with guilty pleas and several charges relating to theft and cannabis dismissed, six charges remained – one of possessing explosives faced by only Matthew, and five charges of theft for both brothers.
