New from overnight, police are looking into a deadly shooting at a playground in philadelphias graves ferry neighborhood. Nbc 10 was on 30th street where a man was shot nlt head and killed just after 2 00 this morning. Investigators tell us they found drugs at the scene. Philadelphia police have a lead in this deadly shooting on krous street. A man was shot here several times just before midnight. Homicide detectives say a witness saw somebody running from the scene then taking off in a gold colored van. A philadelphia neighborhood is on edge this morning after a man sexually assaulted a woman in the woods of a local golf course earlier this weekend. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live at the golf course in zwroefr overbrook where the incident happened. Jesse, despite the warning from police, youve seen people walking that same stretch of road that victim dead yesterday morning near the golf course right . Thats right. Within the past hour or so weve seen a handful of people all of them accept one, men walking the same direction that the victim took during yesterdays crime. One of those is reginald robison. He is heading to the 69th street to catch the l to work. The victim was walking and a man came up from behind and pulled on to the golf course and sexually assaulted her. Reginald robinson says he has often seen women walking in the darkness and worried for their safety and his own. Its still a little scary. It can be dangerous if a lot of people are around here. You know theyre asleep out here. So im aware of that. You can see mr. Robinson did not have his head phones on. Can you hear the music as he was speaking. He didnt keep the head phones on. Its one of the keys to trying to stay safe. Dont put the head phones on because its hard to hear someone coming up either from the side or from behind you. Police say the suspect in this crime kind of a vague description. Short, clean shaven close cropped hair white tshirt, thats about it. Theyre asking anybody who may have seen something Early Saturday Morning in this area to give either special victims or the 19th Police District a call. Jesse gary nbc 10 news. On the delaware river, a mother and daughter drown while kayaking on friday night. Police in new jersey say the victims kayaks overturned. Rescuers found the bodies of 45yearold doris rake and her 19yearold daughter katherine haney. The victims are considered experienced kayakers but Officials Say they were not wearing lifejackets. From our jers ji shore bureau, several people are recovering this morning from minor injuries after a boat accident. The 50 foot boat ran aground near Long Beach Island in ocean county. The coast guard sent us a photo of rescuers and the boat that bottomed out. Four of the 13 people onboard who were jolted in the crash ended up in the hospital. One of them had to be airlifted by chopper. Sky force 10 was over the bay after the boat was back at the dock. We first told you about boats running aground in this area earlier this year because of sand bars popping up. One boater told us that unexpected sand bars in the inlet continue to be a problem. Its changing. In the last ten years, the whole bay has changed a lot. On a nasty day, somebodys going to get hurt. And why they dont dredge it is beyond me. Boaters tell us the coast guard tries to rearrange markers in the bay as conditions change but the boaters say that people still need to be alert. Today the Naacp Convention continues in philadelphia and mayor Michael Nutter will deliver the opening remarks this morning. Yesterday the naacp lifted its economic boycott of South Carolina. The Civil Rights Group passed the resolution at the convention in center city. The decision came after South Carolina officials took down the Confederate Flag flying outside the state house on friday. Yesterday was the first day of the event at the Pennsylvania Convention center. 8,000 delegates attended an expo with an emphasis on health arts and economics. Mexicos top drug lord is on the loose after escaping from prison for the second time. Guzman was arrested last year. He was at a maximum security prison outside of mexico city. They say he was last seen yesterday in the area of the prison showers. Today is the sixth day of the running of the bulls in pamplona spain. A philadelphia man is among those gored in the vent yesterday. The man is said to be 34 years old with the initial jno. He suffered two gorings. Another american and two others were also gored as the bulls ran through the city streets. At least five others are recovering from sprains, bruises and broken bones. An american who was not hurt spoke about what it was like during the run. The lead bull was moving terribly fast. It was very exciting. Very exciting to day. Very quick run. Bull runs will take place every day until july 14th during the annual festival there. In northern india, five members of the family are dead after landslides destroyed their house. Heavy monsoon rains triggered the landslide. The loose earth and mud blocked roads and highways. There are also reports of flooding and other damage. A rhode island beach is set to reopen today even though officials are trying to figure out what caused an explosion that sent a woman flying into the air. The whole explosion, it was like a bomb or something. The beach was evacuated yesterday morning after witnesses reported the possible explosion. A woman sitting on a beach chair near the water was thrown against some rocks and landed on the sand. Up in the air about five feet. And then down on her face. She didnt move. The woman went to the hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time. State police have been investigating and they say they found no evidence that an explosive device caused the boom.
