Growing up with Four Brothers and the night that jimmy killed his dad. We heard shots and me and my friend jumped up and we ran down the stairs and my papa was laid out over the floor. Reporter had it been tough for you and your brother with your dad and your mom . Yeah. Real tough. My mother come out with bruises. Reporter jimmy served five years for involuntary manslaughter. When released he committed other crimes. Robbery and raping other people. You know, but he never stepped back and wanted to talk about it. Reporter do you think some of his troubles in life was because he saw the father beating your mother . We quoknow it is. Definitely. Reporter he lost his sight during childhood while they played a game of bows and arrows. It doesnt cause any mental damage that we knew of. Reporter when working next door as the Maintenance Man he would occasionally see wright. At one time he and his brother lived here after jimmy was fired after a dispute in the landlord in june both moved. Harris also told us he thought his brother had turned the keys in. I asked him what he would say to wrights parents if he had the opportunity. He says he would express his deepest sympathy yet, he Still Believes his brother is innocent. Today a Community Came together for memorial cookout to honor a mother and her three children who were struck and killed by the driver of a stolen suv. It was one year ago today that police say Cornelius Crawford carjacked a woman and then crash under to a fruit stand where Keshia Williams and her children were working. This is all supposed to be a happy event and you can see theyre about to release some balloons right here. A lot of kids and adults are having fun out here this afternoon and thats because they wanted to do something positive here to remember such a horrible tragedy that killed four people. Its hard for friends and family of Keshia Williams to feel anything other than pain at the intersection of allegheny and germantown avenues. But today was different. Keshia wouldnt want us to be all sad and crying. Reporter a year ago williams and three of her kids were going to sell fruit here when two men involved in a carjacking plowed into them. Today people wore tshirts with the pictures of the victims. It is our job and our responsibility to step up when we see things of this nature happen. Reporter the father of the youngest victim told us hes still waiting for justice at the trial for the accused killers has not begun, but this show of support is comforting. I thank everybody for coming out here and showing their part and their peace and love to me and i am just trying to stay strong and deal with it. Reporter organizers say its important to remember the terrible loss of life but also to show the family that they still care. She has two kids that she left here and were trying to uplift them and we want them to enjoy themselves. Everything from the deejay to the food to all the activities that were out here for the kids were donated. Four people are recovering after being pulled from the ocean in wildwood. Lifeguards were just arriving for the day when they saw four people in trouble in the ocean. And Delaware State Police are looking for this suv they believe is connected to a shooting at a gas station. An armed robber shot a clerk at the tagas station in wilmington yesterday. Last seen in this Nissan Pathfinder with a missing grill. Sky force 10 was over the scene just before 5 00 yesterday afternoon. This is like a landmark. Today, they stood and watched it begin a slow fade into history. I remember when they first built this i was very young. 1965. Reporter evelyn remembers commerce when it lived up to its name. Broadway and federal was a bustling Street Corner then with the building serving as an anchor. I remember when it was Camden County and Glasboro State College was in this building and woolworth. Woolworth and i used to come here when i was a little girl. Reporter the hay day didnt last long. An exodus that began in the 70s led to total abandonment. A shell that sat abandoned for years. Stores started closing up and everybody started leaving. Next thing you know this is what we got. Reporter slated to continue until early august. This work means it will be road closures on federal from fifth all the way up to broadway and on broadway from federal all the way over to mlk. Traffic and mass transit will be diverted. Time for something to happen. Really nice here in the city. From our jersey shore bureau, five Atlantic City hotels have reached settlements after they were allegedly not in compliance with the americans with disability. Tropicana, trump taj mahal came to an agreement with the feds. The five businesses are required to fix any violations. Now the businesses that remain open must also train their staff about the ada policy. The settlement in Atlantic City come as the country celebrates the 25th anniversary of the americans with disability act. Philadelphia recognized the civil rights legislation today. The event was a way to connect people with disabilities with resources in our community. Several history and art exhibits at the National Constitution center also recognize the anniversary.
