Around this time every morning when were going to experience excessive heat the National Weather service will have a call with members of the Philadelphia Health department and issue a heat warning which they did. It goes into effect at noon today. What can you expect if you live in and around philadelphia . The city may extend the hours during which the Public Libraries and r exc centers are open places that double as cooling centers where theres air conditioning and shelter from the sun. We could also see a code red. Water would be handed out. And the philadelphia hot line for aging will open up as well. In some cases a nurse would go to a persons home if theyre in extreme conditions. Early reports said the man was conscious and alert and talking to rescuers. We know that the paramedics were in touch at least with some doctors from Einstein Medical Center who were advising to see if they would need to how they could free the man. A philadelphia man charged with murdering his girlfriend and abusing her corporation will go before a judge. The judge will decide if there is enough evidence to hold garcia for trial. Police found the body of his girlfriend in the trunk of her own car. They havent said how they believe garcia killed her but they did remove evidence from the couples home in olney. A north Philadelphia Community will hold its remembrance of iriana dejesus. Her accused killer flores is expected to be hiding in south america. Jeffrey walker admitted to robbing a suspected drug dealer. He agreed to testify against six other members of his narcotics squad. They were charged with beating suspects and robbing them of hundreds of thousands of dollars. In may, a jury acquitted those officers. Five of them have filed a defamation suit against the mayor, the District Attorney and the police commissioner. They claim those officials made accusations that led to their firings and arrests. This morning theres still no decision on whether a Montgomery County school will be forced to close its doors. Frustrated parents left the School Board Meeting with no resolution. The board deferred making a decision on the fate of audubon elementary because too many Board Members were on vacation for last nights meeting. The superintendent wants to close that school. Four other Elementary Schools would have to absorb more than 400 students. From our Jersey Shore Bureau now, the state and Long Beach Township have to pay seven home owners for temporarily taking their beach front properties. According to nj. Com a state judge ruled that they are entitled to fair market value and interest and get a portion of their state property tax back. The home owners filed suit after governmentstried to get easements to build sand dunes. Its unclear at this time how much the governments willville to pay. The driver was wanted in part for stealing underwear. This is Robert Ritter right here police say he shoplifted underwear worth about 20 from a shoprite store. The crime was apparently caught on surveillance video. Police in brook lawn, Camden County within say ritter assaulted a Loss Prevention officer to get away with that underwear. Nbc 10 uncovered the arrest warrant which included over 20,000 of claims. We talked to an expert to see what police did and didnt do correctly. The experts said the technique of boxing in that van clearly did not work for police. You want to keep it tight quarters with all vehicles. To have that individual have no out. Federal investigators arrested a man in florida who they say has ties to isis and they say he was planning to set off a bomb on a beach. A criminal complaint says 23yearold Harlem Suarez told an fbi source that he planned to bury a backpack bomb in the sound and detonate it with a cell phone. Suarez made his first appearance in a courtroom yesterday. His Attorney Says the charges are blown out of proportion. Ive met this young man. I talked to this young man. I gauged his demeanor. He is not a violent jihadist. Hes not a member of isis. Suarez is currently being held at a federal Detention Center center. Hes expected to be back in court next week. Earlier this week a north philadelphia woman was arrested and acharged with trying to support isis with money and resources. Keonna thomas wanted to join isis and fight and die for the group. If convicted she could face 15 years in prison. Germany is hosting this years macabre games. German Officials Say theyre proud to host the games which became yesterday. Thats up by three compared to yesterday morning. The humidity, thats also running high at 84 , a steamy morning and a hot, humid afternoon. Well see bright sunshine and the temperatures will take off. By lunch time i expect philadelphia to be in the low 90s. Today well see lots of sunshine. Showers are staying to our south. More importantly, is this activity those are showers and thunderstorms that will be arriving tomorrow afternoon. Behind those storms is drier, more comfortable air. Well feel that on friday. But today through tomorrow the humidity will be stretching into the area. Theres a slight chance of an overnight shower tomorrow morning and then with mostly cloudy skies, the temperatures wont be quite as high tomorrow but will still be steamy. At lunch time tomorrow well be watching the line of showers to the west increasing in strength and there is potential for Severe Weather moving through the area during the afternoon hours. Montgomery drive eastbound into the Center City Area 13 minutes from the blue route to the vine street expressway. East and westbound, not a lot of traffic throughout the area. Today more than 100 kids with disabilities will enjoy a day at the philadelphia zoo for free as part of First Trust Banks 26th annual zoo day.
