Ben all right, son. Tom all right. That is popped up foul, and out of play. But in all seriousliness, jamies career was with resurrected with the mariners in so many ways, and ben you were part of it, and we do wish him the best this weekend and it is a great honor. Ben and the weird part of jamies career is that the majority of the years, they were oneyear contracts. And he was year to year to year. To year. I want the say like he didnt sign a threeyear deal until he was like tom 50. Ben 45 or something, and im serious. It is a crazy number. But it is a well deserving honor, i will tell you. Tom and the 22 coming to Domonic Brown chopped back to rollins. J. P. Howell wasnt going to go after it anyways. One out here in the eighth, and here comes Freddy Galvis. Freddy is 0 for 3 and thankful that zach greinke is taking a shower right now. Galvis has grounded out and struck out twice, and he is not going to face j. P. Howell. It looks like they are going to bring in juan nicasio, and have freddy slide over to the left side of the plate again. So is a pitching change here at Citizens Bank park. J. P. Howell ends up 1 1 3 innings in relief of zach greinke, and he allows one hit and picks up a couple of strikeouts. Nicasio coming in, and we will be back after this. With the card most accepted in the philadelphia region, you have the compassion and security of blue cross. Giving you the power to do more. Independence blue cross. Live fearless. Tom from our home to yours is a collection of phillies wives recipes. It is a available at the Majestic Clubhouse store. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the phillies charities. The dodgers are hoping to get out of here with two wins in three games. The phillies took game one, but game two going to the dodgers, and game three, the dodgers are currently leading by four, even though the phillies got six runs against zach greinke. But they have allowed ten runs on 15 hits. And so now, juan nicasio is 13 with a 3. 25 e. R. A. Is coming on to face Freddy Galvis with one out here in the bottom half of the eighth inning. Matt 12 is a different kind of number for a pitcherr, isnt it . Ben yes, but it is a great number. Tom do you have to have w t written permission to all of the players who want to wear number 12 . Matt no. I wore about nine different numb numbers in my career. Tom what is the highest that you wore . Matt 47. Tom corey koskie of the twins wore that number. A former Baseball Hall of famer. Galvis out to left field. Ethier is on the run, and makes the catch. Well, that is a good play with the wall closing in on him. There are two outs here in the eighth. Here comes cody asche who doubled the last time up. Matt the easy play for the lef ti, because you can notice how far he has to go. He know s ths that he can reach to catch the ball, but the key is that he ran to the spot, and he didnt coast. Tom asche takes on the outside corner, 01. 02. Ben if you are going to let hinojosa go back out for the third inning. Tom they decide not to utilize anybody else in the bull pen. He looked pretty comfortable in the last inning of work. Ben as of right now, 26 pitches, and 23 of them for strikes. Tom asche tried to hold up, and he did. There he is, hinojosa, and doing a little wax on wax off. Matt we havent seen garcia in the series, have we . Tom no, we have not seen luis garcia except to warmup. Matt he is warming up right now. Tom he is just now starting to throw. Asche pulling it past kendrick for the base hit. His second hit of the afternoon. Way to go, cody. He is 2 for 4. Ben really a couple of bounce back atbats. His third atbat putting together a good atbat here, and gets another knock. That is something that you can, just not giving up after two atbats, and nice to see. Matt well, he went from potentially hideous day to a good day. 2 for 4 with the double. Ben heck yeah. Garcia out there is a touch and feel. Out there, and just a little loose. Tom part of it with francoeur on deck, and that is the pitchers spot if they use him, then maybe they will just get him to gas up a little bit more. Matt yeah. Tom no balls, one strike. Fly ball to right field, and puig is there. The phillies are retired here in the eighth inning, no runs, one hit and a man left. To the ninth we go with the dodgers leading by four. Tom dodgers lead it 106, and they jump out to the lead in the first and the phillies erase that, and the dodgers score three in the second and they have not trailed sense. Back in the third inning, our w. B. Mason delivery of the game and fact look. Matt the w. B. Mason delivery of the game is the zach greinke home run with the great bat flip. Tom i dont nt know if you e looked at the youtube videos of the hitters in korea, because they have bat flip contests. Matt who does that remind you of . Tom boone. Matt and who . Ben danny wilson. Matt yes. And here is andre ethier to lead it off. Matt it is funny to talk about the bat flip and the home run, but not the bat flip off of the single is up the middle. Tom well, if you are going to do it, do it all of the time, and be consistent. Ben he did it in l. A. Off of the ball he hit to left center, and it didnt go out, but he had the bat flip nonetheless. Tom and a ball to ethier. He became the first dodger to have three hits in a game for a pitcher since claudeo steen did it in 1958. That is out of play to the sweet level. Heres the single. Matt the bat flip. And the the next single. I guess that the home run was a little higher bat flip. Tom yes, it was definitely higher. But the first flip or the toss or whatever it was, it is pretty good. Ben pretty good. Matt something behind it. Tom and the 22 pitch, another one fouled away, and this is toward the hall of fame club. Ben i tell you the last time Don Mattingly came out with useless information, and i was a Baseball Card collector, and i remember that all of the hype when he came out, and he was until the back went out. Tom long run for cody asche, and did he make the catch . He did what a grab by cody asche, and he slid into foul territory, and picked it off of the top of the dust. Ben great play here. And he goes to the backhand to make the play. You would think that he would hold the glove straight out, but he goes to the backhand. Tom great play. Matt excellent play. Tom making the adjustment to left field. And now the pitch to right field. Ben and back to don matting ly, the 84 margins were not always centered, and so to find one perfectly centered was tough to find. Tom so were all of them imperfectly centered . Ben no, but it was hard to find. I remember being a baseball collector, and that card was very much sought after. Tom did you get it . Ben yeah, i have one, Donald Arthur mattingly. Tom you still have it . Ben yes. Matt vow have it signed . Ben no. I have a couple of balls that he signed for me when i was in camp with the yankees. Tom and over the screen for scott van slyke. Matt yes, and you have a new york mets jersey for my Golf Tournament he signed for an auction item, speaking of pretty cool. Ricochet, and nice catch. Tom nice grab. Ben that slider had more depth on it, top to bottom as opposed to the one a that we saw earlier that was more lateral. Tom that one is popped up left side, and over to Maikel Franco in foul territory. Two outs. 47 pitches and two outs near the ninth. Every time the phillies pitchers retire the opposition 1, 2, 3 which has happened twice today, comcast is going to make a contribute is shun to phillies charities. Phillies baseball brought to you by xfinity, the official entertainment provider of the philadelphia phillies. Tom heres callaspo. It is 01. Tom out of play. It is 02. Strike three called. Five strikeouts in three innings for hinojosa. Three scoreless innings of relief. The last chance for the phillies, a phillies, and we will see what they have, down by four. One last chance for the phillies here against the dodger s and when this series is over, they head to take on the san diego padres. It is going to be aaron nola to take on james shields, and then adam morgan taking on tyson ross and then Jerome Williams will take on andrew cashner. Tom the phillies going out to san diego, and maybe the last time that they see that team intact, the San Diego Team intact, because there are reports that they may start to unlo unload is some of the players. Matt that is a heck of a line for andres blanco. Tom that with swun fouled away. Matt as much pine tar as there is on the bat and the helmet, i am surprised it helicoptered towards the stands. Tom 01 on andres blanco. That is popped up over toward third base. Callaspo is under it. Theres the first out. Callaspo there to play third for the injured justin turner, and now, Cesar Hernandez who is 1 for 4 in the ball game. Hernandez singled and scored in the first inning, lined out to first and grounded out to the pitcher, and struck out. The phillies have had nine hits and the dodgers 15 hits, and the dodgers 10 runs on the 15 hits. Low. Tomorrow, well be on the air on comcast sportsnet. Matt 11 00 atlantic time. Tom yes, 11 00 atlantic time, and 11 30, newfoundland time. Tom and are you back home in canada time tomorrow . Matt yes. Ben how long will it take . Matt five hours, straight shot, 95 north. Tom outside, 31. Matt get a little chipotle, and it will make the ride a lot better. Tom is a little bit of what . Matt chipotle. Tom at the knees, 32. Tom cesar fouls it back. It is interesting over to the years to watch the different sort of setups that the pitchers have to be more deceptive. Peralta has, and he is not the only one, because j. P. Howell does, too, but they have all of the different movements before they deliver the ball to the plate, and a lot of it is to have more deception, because they dont feel that they have enough to get the hitter out with the fastball or anything like that. Back towards the middle. That is a base hit for hernandez, and the 10th hit for the phils, and the inning is alive with one man down, and Odubel Herrera is the batter. Matt i talked to Jimmy Rollins in the dodgers locker room, and talked about Cesar Hernandez as a player, and jimmy talked so high of cesars atbats and the way he is hitting and playing defense, and there is not another guy in baseball who hits as hard in ba baseball. Tom well, that is a nice compliment. Well sh well, at some point, probably tomorrow, chase utley will come back, and Pete Mackanin said that they will find atbats for chase, but he acknowledged that it is tough to get scesar out o the lineup. Odubel is going to take strike one, 01. Ben i know that hit right there would make the fivehour plane ride a lot ease dwroer deal with. A lot easier to deal with. And 2 for 5 is the a lot better than 1 for 5. Tom knocked down by Adrian Gonzalez, and crawling, flipping, and past peralta, and the phillies have two on with one out. Score that a hit. And it is the third hit for Odubel Herrera. Matt he may have been spiked. Tom the athletic trainer for the dodgers comes running out. He was spiked to the top of the foot. Matt yes, i believe that the spike of herrera landed right on peraltas shoe, and right there on the toe. Tom almost got him there, too. They scored a base hit and it is a ninth threehit game for odubel. That is it for peralta, and they are going to be bringing in kenley jansen, i believe. Ben save situation. Tom yes, the tying run is in the ondeck circle, so it is a save situation for the dodgers, and the closer is coming in, and they trail it by four here in the bottom of the ninth. Tom nbc 10 first alert weather, for pennsylvania, delaware an new jersd new jersee nbc 10 news is coming up right after the ball game. Nbc 10 first alert weather, count on it. And now Don Mattingly is going to the closer in this save situation. 30th ball game. For jansen. He saved yesterdays game. 20 of 21 in the save opportunities. Hernandez at second, and herrera at first, and he has hit in eight straight for Maikel Franco. It is 01, and we have talked about the natural Cutter Movement off of the fastball of jansen. You are not going to be finding too many closers with that natural movement. That is an unhittable pitch right there. It may have been called a strike if he didnt swing at it, because it was maybe a little low, but it was moving. Matt caught at 95, but it is a tough pitch to hit especially when it is down in the zone. Tom that one is hit out to center field, and on the run is pederson, and back to the track, and it is over his head. It is to the base of the wall, and around to score is hernandez, and he is going to cross the plate, and it is a tworun double for Maikel Franco, and now it is a 108 ball game. 21 doubles for franco. Ben how loud was that off of the bat. It hurt my ears up here. It is a high cutter. J matt this is the pitch before, low and away, and you can see how he pulls off of it, and the next pitch, he makes the adjustment and even though the pitch is up, he stays through the ball, and goes right center, and realizes that he has the power right field, and we talked about the game of adjustments, and now there it is. Tom and howard is up, and he fights it off to right field, and callaspo cant make the p y play. It spins away from him, and it is a base lit for ryan howard and base runners on first and third. Fr franco was not sure what the heck to do on that one, but he made the right decision though. And now, the the tying run is at first, and the winning run is walking to the plate. Ben i would think that you would have to pinch run for ryan howard. Tom who . Matt the pitcher. Tom that is the only thing, ben, because they used everybody off of the bench. Matt yeah. Tom except for francoeur and rupp. Matt it is not a pinch runner, but it is a walkoff shot. Ben dont threat en me this time. Tom and Domonic Brown has had a good day. Brown takes the strike, and it is 01. Four rbis for Domonic Brown today. That is a pretty good pitch on the first offering from kenley jansen. Ben dom did see him last night, so he does know how it comes off of his hands. Tom that is low to dom, and outside, one ball, one strike. That is pulled caught by gonzalez and a double play and the ball game is over oh, man. You cant hit it any harder than Domonic Brown did, and Adrian Gonzalez, right place, right time. He finishes off the final game of the series, and the dodgers hang on, and they win it by a final of 108. Ben the ball ends up being fo foul. It would have gone foul. Ends up to be a double play to end the game. Nothing you can do. Tom nothing you can do about that. The phillies made a run here in the ninth, but the dodgers take two of three, and Adrian Gonzalez it turns out is the chevrolet player of the game with the threerun home run. And Jimmy Rollins will say so long to phillies fans, and final chance to see them here in 2015. So the phils took game one and the dodgers took the last two, and they win today, 108, and we will be right back to wrap it up here from philadelphia right after this. With the card accepted by 90 of doctors and specialists in the philadelphia region, you have the compassion and security of blue cross. Giving you the freedom to relish right now. Independence blue cross. Live fearless. Tom well, i will tell you that it turned out to be an exciting finish. It looked like the phillies could get to the closer kenley jansen, but as it turned out they couldnt survive. Zach greinke allowed five runs in the first, and David Buchanan suffered the loss, and dropped to 26 on the year. Domonic brown had four rbis and hit it hard in the last at bat. The next telecast is part of a ninegame west coast swing starting tomorrow on comcast sportsnet. And we will get you started at 9 30. The landmark legislation legally protected everyones right to vote. President johnson signed the Voting Rights act into law on this date in 1965. The reverend Martin Luther king jr. Was one of the civil rights activists at the signing. The act banned racial discrimination, literacy testing and poll taxes. Tactics often used to keep black voters out of the voting booth. On this anniversary comes a call for a new era of Voting Rights for pennsylvanians. State senator Vincent Hughes joined election advocates on Independence Mall today pushing a bill that would automatically register somebody to vote whenever they have any interaction with state government. Hughes estimates two million pennsylvanians are eligible to vote but are not registered. A really comfortable day outside. You probably noticed temperatures a little bit cooler. Humidity is down, too. But we are tracking rain. We have rain just off to our west and some of you will see the rain as early as late tonight. Now, the heaviest rain we do expect will mostly be new jersey and delaware and thats really where a majority of the rain will be as we go into friday. Good news, so far it looks like this area of low pressure thats bringing the rain will be moving out as we go through the weekend so we have weekend clearing and it will still be pretty warm through the weekend, too. Live look at center city. Cloud cover has definitely been increasing today. Mostly cloudy, 84 degrees, humidity is still low, around 33 . Many areas feel very comfortable with slightly cooler temperatures. 80 in allentown and pottstown, 79 in west chester, 82 for many of suburbs in new jersey, millville, glassboro, 81 degrees in dover right now. Most of the area is still on the dry side. It wont be until late tonight when we get more rain moving in. As you can see, the clouds are around and some rain in parts of Lancaster County right now near harrisburg. The bulk of the moisture is still off to the west. Thats where we see an area of low pressure. So this low will essentially just slide from west to east, remaining to our south. Thats where most of the rain is going to be. Heres future weather as we go into late tonight. That area of low pressure gets closer by tomorrow afternoon. Thats going to be just to our south so the best chance for rain will be in new jersey and delaware for tomorrow. For saturday, models have become more consistent with pushing this low offshore a little more quickly so we will see the rain moving out a little faster saturday. The shore forecast looks a little better for saturday than it did yesterday. Then we go into sunday and the rain really moves away and everyone should be seeing just about a mostly sunny day on sunday. Heres a look at future rainfall. Majority of it is going to be confined to south jersey and delaware, maybe around an inch in some of the highest amounts but now we look farther to the south and thats where we expect a majority and the heaviest rain to be pretty well far south of the area. For tonight, more clouds around, late rain. Mostly south of philadelphia. 68 for the low in philadelphia, 58 degrees areas north and west. Tomorrow, rain mostly in new jersey and delaware, drier the farther north and west you go. Temperatures staying in the low 80s for your friday so pretty comfortable. For saturday, we still have a chance of early rain for parts of the shore and delaware but that area of low pressure looks to move off pretty quickly so i think the day will shape up nicely saturday, especially on sunday temperatures mid 80s and the good news is theres no heat wave in the next seven days.
