Announcer from nbc news, this is today with matt lauer and savannah guthrie. Live from studio 1a in Rockefeller Plaza. Good morning, everyone. Welcome to today on a Tuesday Morning. There are certain moment s in sports where you realize how vulnerable the pitcher is those moments after letting it go. Well begin with active Duty Service Members being brought in for the First Time Since 2006 to contain raging wildfires out west. Lets start with Miguel Almaguer in Washington State with the latest. Good morning to you. Reporter savannah, good morning. This fire alone here has charred at least 56,000 acres, some 32 homes destroyed. The number could rise when the smoke here clears. There are explosive conditions in six western states. Here in washington, they are calling for more help. This morning across the west it looks like a war zone. Now the military is here. First the National Guard and now 200 active Duty Service Members from across the nation, joining a different fight here at home. We know when the military is coming we are going to get really good, trained help. They come fully loaded with all the support they need. Today they are dropping retardant from the air and smoke jumpers, too. Parachuting to hot spots difficult to reach. In states like washington, they are losing ground. In some neighborhoods, the battle. I had a lot of stuff. Stuff wasnt that important. Reporter with resources spread dangerously thin, the feds say they will spend at least a billion tlars this summer fighting fires. When individual states kick in cash that number will rise dramatically. Firefighters will be on the front lines across the west facing dangerous conditions. Matt and savannah, back to you. Its been a tough season. Thank you. To indonesia now where crews reached the site of a deadly passenger plane crash. Bill neely has the latest. Good morning. Reporter good morning, matt. Tragedy with 54 dead, but not the mystery we have seen with other plane crashes in the past year. The two black box flight recorders have been recovered along with all of the bodies. The plane was carrying three babies, two other children, and 49 adults. It took often heavy rain and fog and lost contact. Half an hour later crashing into dense jungle on a mountainside. Some planes that crashed there have never been found. This one was spotted from the air. Search teams still had to hike for two days to reach it. It was carrying nearly half a million in cash for local villages. The money not found. The plane totally destroyed. The airline trigana has a deadly safety record. It lost ten planes in 20 years. It is the third deadly air disaster in indonesia in the past year. For people in this reemote area, planes are the only way out. All the dead here indonesian. Matt . Bill ne ely, thank you very much. Our top story in politics, the number of emails from Hillary Clintons time as secretary of state flagged for potentially classified information. Its topping 300 and the number is expected to go higher. Kristen welker is in nevada where clinton is campaigning today. Good morning. Reporter savannah, good morning. Questions mount about Hillary Clintons emails as her Campaign Urges supporters not to panic. At issue today Intelligence Community reviewers expressed concern that more than 300 documents from her emails may have contained classified information. In a court filing yesterday they asked that the emails undergo further review before the state Department Releases them to the public as part of the ongoing efforts to release all of her emails to the public. The Clinton Campaign continues to insist that she never sent or received any emails that were marked classified. This all comes as we are getting our first glimpse of clinton meeting with black lives matters protesters after a Campaign Event in New Hampshire. Last week the meeting got somewhat tense. Take a look. Look, i dont believe you change hearts. I believe you change laws, allocation and resources, you change the way systems operate. Youre not going to change every heart. Youre not. But at the end of the day, we can do a whole lot to change some hearts and change some systems and create more opportunities for people who deserve to have them to live up to their own reporter black lives matters protesters have been urging candidates on the campaign trail to focus on mounting tensions between minority communities and police departments. It is an issue thats gaining traction. Still for secretary clinton the email issue looms large and continues to dog her campaign. Today shell try to turn the page in las vegas where shell focus on College Affordability and immigration. Back to you. Kristen welker, thank you. Lets turn to republican frontrunner donald trump and his proposals to deal with undocumented immigrants and to fight isis. How much would they cost . Hallie jackson did the math. Good morning. Reporter good morning, matt. Mixed reaction about the new immigration policies proposed by the frontrunner and questions about how much they cost. Donald trump talks about how much money he has but how much taxpayer money is he willing to spend . We tallied the trump tabs to find out. We either have a country or we dont. Reporter swarmed by immediate i cant at jury duty in manhattan, donald trump ignored questions about how hed pay for the policies hes fleshing out now on immigration they have to go. Reporter on fighting isis. Go and knock out the oil, take back the oil. Reporter on health care. We have to re pee peepeel obamacare. Reporter the candidate known for big money. I have built a net worth of more than 10 million. Reporter deporting 11 million undocumented immigrants estimated to cost 138 billion. Taking back Iraqi Oil Field which means u. S. Boots on the ground, 13 billion to 22 billion and repealing obamacare may cost 137 billion in the next decade. Trump told nbc monday his immigration plan would be very, very easily paid for. But he dodged nbcs katy turs question about where the money would come from. Its something we have to do. Reporter the frontrunner leading by double digits under fire from one of his biggest opponents, hitting back. I think the better approach is to deal with the 11 Million People here illegally in a way thats realistic. Reporter bush now 11 points behind trump in a new cnn poll out this morning. Other candidates like carly fiorina, scott walker are embracing part of trumps plan as they focus on their own immigration stance and shift the conversation to other priorities. Frankly, a little bit sick of talking about trump. Hallie, thank you very much. Now to natalie for the other news of the morning and a dramatic blast in thailand, already on edge after yesterday. Yet again this morning. Tense moments again in bangkok after a second explosion in the capital comes just a day after mondays deadly bomb blast that killed 22 people and injured more than a hundred others at a shrine. Todays explosion was at a ferry pier. No one was hurt. Surveillance video shows a sudden blast of water dousing people on the pier as others run away. Cell phone video shows the terrifying moments of mondays explosion outside the hindu shrine in bangkok. Police are looking for a suspect seen on video near the site of the blast. According to reuters the man in the yelle low shirt you see is the suspect they are after. The irs say it is cyber attack on the agency earlier this year is far worse than they feared. The agency said it believes the thieves will try to use the information to file fake tax returns next year. So the irs is now sending letters to taxpayers whose accounts may have been accessed offering a new Identification Number to verify next years return. One man was killed monday night when an amtrak train slammed into a car in central florida. Auburndale police say the driver attempted to go around the crossing investigate just before it was hit by the southbound amtrak train. No one on the train was hurt. A couple of robbers in pittsburgh learned the hard way not to bring a machete to a sword fight. The men attempted to rob a store armed with a footlong knife but the cashier responded by pulling out a much larger sword known as a scimitar, chasing them out of the store. I think hes saying, you call that a knife . This is a knife. Wow. Scary moment more pitcher Brian Mitchell as the yankees hosted the twins in the second inning. Mitchell was facing Eduardo Nunez who returned a line drive up the middle hitting mitchell in the face. He stayed on his knees while trainers attended to him. Mitchell left the game under his own power. He suffered a small nasal fracture and has been released from the hospital. So scary. Very scary moment. And an escaped elephant with a nose for a bargain surprised shoppers at a car boot sale which is similar to a flea market in the netherlands. It had escaped from a nearby circus. It didnt buy anything. Just browsing. Eventually an elephant handler came and led it away. Very strange. And a Football Player whose skills go well beyond the field. Look at what happened during a timeout of the arizona rattlers arena Football Game. The dance squad to the field but you see that guy looks like he really knows the moves, right . He knows what hes doing, clearly. Turns out hes really not a player. Just in case you were wondering hes part of the act. Hes a dancer and choreographer named oscar hernandez. Every time. He puts on quite a show. Dont expect him to score a touchdown though. Hes good. That split was a touchdown. I could watch that all day. Al, welcome back. Thanks so much. I wish we could welcome back cooler weather for our friends in the northeast back into the Pacific Northwest. Thats not going to happen. Two big areas of high pressure. We have cooler air that will get into the midwest in the next couple of days. Meantime in the northeast, temperatures will feel like the mid 90s. Cooling down a little bit. Unfortunately in the Pacific Northwest the wildfires going on now. There is so much smoke from the fires that we are seeing air quality advice. So weve got widespread smoke, hazardous air quality through thursday. There is a chance of rain by friday. Look at the temperatures. Cooler in seattle. Portland with recordsetting temperatures and as we get into red bluff, reno, medford, oregon, temperatures well into the triple digits. Well get to your loc imagine she wont have to remember passwords. Or obsess about security. Shell log in with her smile. Hell have his very own personal assistant. The heat wave continues today but tomorrow should come to an end. 88 degrees, 9 high temperature. Scattered showers and possibly some thunderstorms on wednesday. Become more likely and widespread with the potential for heavy rainfall later thursday and into friday. By this weekend, though, storm should take a break. With sunshine well be in the 80s. Have a great day. Thats your latest weather, savannah. Later today the fda will announce a pill called female viag viagra. Its the first medication that says it can treat a lack of sexual desire among women. They are using tv ads for a major Public Relations pitch. Lucky for you, you have countless Medication Options that will make you as randy as a teenager. Too bad your lady doesnt have any. Lets bring in dr. Natalie azar. Good morning. I want to talk about the sales pitch. Its interesting. First of all, its called female viagra but its nothing like viagra. How does it work . The way viagra works is it affects something physical in a mans body. Specifically for something called erectile dysfunction. The idea behind the drug is it is affecting the chemicals in the brain. There are a lot of chemicals, we call them neurotrans mitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin. Its part of the reward center that allows desire to manifest. The fda had a chance to approve and rejected it twice. Primarily for safety concerns t. Most common side effects are sleepiness, dizziness and nausea, but critics say low blood pressure, fainting, syncopy, loss of consciousness can be serious. Like while you are driving or falling and getting a concussion. Is it Something Like a glorified antidepressant . Does it really address this issue . Very good question. Its also difficult to measure what we call the outcome measures. How do you determine whether or not a drug has such a benefit. I have to go back to the side effects of the drug. Especially mixed withal alcohol, there are a lot of drug interactions. In the right patient, the patient selection here is important. For women who have used it and certainly the studies would suggest there is a statistically and clinically meaningful benefit in a certain subset of patients. It is striking a nerve. Women say why are there treatments for men and nothing for women who struggle with this. In some ways its politicized. You will see proponents and critics on both side. Well see what the fda does. Thank you very much. A wild scene in detroit. A tiger escaped during a photo shoot that led to a bizarre attempt to re capture him. Tiger in an urban setting, what could go wrong . Tamron is here with that. How many times do we say wait until you see this. The guys who tried to wrangle the tiger recorded it all. In the video even they admit what they were doing was ridiculous. It was a different kind of concrete jungle monday when a photo shoot gone wild ended with a tiger on the loose in detroits historic pack card plant. This feels like the dumbest thing we have ever done. It started when british photographer david yarrow arrived with fierce models the tiger, a bobcat and two wolves, a small detail the plant owner forgot to mention. There was never a situation we had to shut down a shoot, had any kind of animals on site. Reporter after the tiger escaped from the cage two volunteers attempted to scare it back in using a large piece of blue tarp. We want to be the nice guys at the bottom. You have to be the big scary blue thing at the top. Sounds good. Well get ready. Reporter and a weed whacker. Let us know when you want us to come out. Reporter this comes less than a month after a resident in milwaukee spotted what appeared to be a mountain line on the loose. Back in troit ydetroit yarrow s did nothing wrong posting on facebook. Saying at no point were there animals on the loose or out of control as mentioned in social media. Motor City Residents took it in stride, one poking fun at the local Baseball Team tweeting, seeing its a detroit tiger it shouldnt be hard to get him out. The company that provided the wild animals told our detroit affiliate none of them was harmed. This weed whacker plan b if something goes wrong. What do we have . A weed whacker. Okay, good.
