Those areas set to see the most rain, but first, we do have a reporter live at the scene. First going to start with meteorologist bill henley, he has your most accurate neighborhood forecast, bill. Tropical system, potentially could become a Tropical Storm. Southern delaware and south jersey will see the worst of it. Storm system stays offshore. Get close enough to give us rain and wind through the day today and through tonight. Expect high wind, heavy surf and heavy rain along the coastline today. Rain started in cape may. So far light and steady. Wind isnt all that strong yet. Will change during the day today. Radar and satellite show the clouds here producing rain for cape may, Sea Isle City and to the north. Atlantic city getting rain showers and inching into most of new castle county. Not much rain yet in wilmington. Eventually spread to the rest of the area. Flood ravaged texas is set to get hit with more rain. Houston sits under three feet of flood water already. The center of the storm has moved off the coast, but it is expected to track back inland tomorrow which means periods of torrential rain and more flooding. New this morning, these dramatic before and after pictures show harveys impact on houston. Heavy rain sent the bayou river over its banks with floodwaters reaching a dozen feet or more. Just a few hours from now, two more as you mentioned loading up into that truck and heading to a staging area in louisiana where they will assist with Disaster Relief efforts. People from our area are pitching in the best ways they know how. Talked to a professor of neuro science at jefferson offering up research lab to those in houston so research isnt lost like it has been in other hurricane disasters. Then the Salvation Army. Specialized skill sets down to Southeast Texas to not only deal with physical needs of flood victims, but to assist with the Emotional Trauma of those who survived the storm. First wave that were sending down or emotional and spiritual care specialists. Really Disaster Mental Health professionals. Be providing services, hydration, feeding part of the skill set they bring to the table, they provide crisis counseling, listening ear, some of what we Call Ministry of presence during times of disaster, listening to somebodys story, providing basic guidance or just knowing what to say and most importantly what not to say to folks who have just been through a major traumatic crisis. Attorney maintains the 23yearold still does not know what happened the night the child died. I believe him sincere in his wondering and desire to find out what happened. Im not convinced he did what the prosecution says that he did in the trial. Which is suffocating. Right. He will be sentenced september 29. He could spend six years behind bars with time served. Heres the latest now the death toll from harvey is at least three, but could be as high as nine right now. Rain is still falling. Nearly 280,000 customers in the houston area are without power. More than 3,000 water rescues so far. President trump will tour the coast in Corpus Christi where harvey first made land fall. Right now rain is falling across new orleans and people there are preparing for the flooding expected to be at its worst today and tomorrow. 30,000 sandbags are being filled across the city and people are being asked to stay inside during the storm. Sitting over the warm gulf of mexico just pumping moisture into that region. Sadly its going to continue. It will move out eventually. See the radar and satellite showing from houston east ward through east texas into louisiana and new orleans getting pretty good downpours. Going to be a slow moving system, but by this time tomorrow morning, its still forecast to be over the gulf of mexico. Still pumping moisture into this area thats already been drenched by early thursday morning, finally starting to move and eventually will get a move on and clear out of that area. Some moisture may come our way for the holiday weekend. This is what it looks like on the future cast. Look at heavy rain continuing through the day. Wednesday and thursday and then finally moving out and by thursday evening just a few scattered showers in houston and louisiana. The heavy downpours move in to arkansas and western tennessee, northern mississippi and alabama could be getting heavy rainfall. Thats thursday evening. Wet weather will still be on the move.
