At the jersey shore and delaware beaches. The first alert goes through thursday morning. The worst of it, though, will be during the day today and tonight. We could see minor flooding with high tides this morning along the coastline. Then moderate flooding is possible this evening. Through it all, high surf and rip current, high winds this afternoon especially. The winds could top 40 Miles Per Hour. The moderate flooding this evening and the winds, waves, beach erosion is likely with this storm system, quiet right now, though. Lehigh valley, 69 degrees. Clouds over the suburbs. 66 degrees. The chance of showers as we warm up to 77 degrees in philadelphia. Expecting some light rainfall for philadelphia and the suburbs. For the Lehigh Valley, sunshine, up to 81 degrees, the warm spot. Hurricane maria has regained strength and is once again a category5 storm on the island of dominica. The results could be catastrophic. In ocean city, they are asking anyone with loose porch furniture, umbrellas, to tie those things down because of the high winds expected today into tomorrow for fear of those things blowing away. Reporter we know that the teachers are going to be submitting a counterproposal to the district this morning. Were expecting to get more details once that happens. Heres where things are at. The district accepted the teachers salary proposal as is, where they became stuck and what theyve been trying to hash out are the details on how much teachers will be paying for Health Insurance premiums. The strike is not only putting pressure on the district but parents, as well. With 5,000 kids out of school, parents have either had to take off work or arrange for childcare. It isnt cheap. The Washington Times is hosting the ymca is hosting childcare at skyview elementary for kids for more than 100 a week. A toll on the family. Theres an additional financial burden. The boy was shot twice in the torso and died after being taken to the hospital. The two survivors are in stable condition. Fire tore through a Landscape Supply company last night. The third accident this year is under investigation. Mitch blocker took his questions to septas director of operations to find out what septas doing to keep you safe. I can assure you that weve taken every precaution possible in light of all the incidents that weve had recently to make sure that everything is running as safely as we can. He says septa has changed procedures and is working to get feedback from employees who work the system every day. They will invest in more training. The weekend crash is the latest of three separate incidents this year still under investigation by the ntsb. Last month the norristown heights train hit a parked train. In february, youll remember, marketfrankford line train hit another and partially derailmented. Take a look at this. This is new video that shows the moments a tour bus blasted through an intersection yesterday morning slamming into a new york city bus. The crash killed three people and injured 16. The bus barrelled into a row of storefronts, and that started a fire. Were learning that the Tour Bus Company and drivers have a history of problems. The tour bus driver who died in the crash was a former city bus driver fired in 2015 after he was arrested for drunk driving and a hit and run. Several drivers from the Tour Bus Company have been cited for speeding and ignoring traffic signals. Two other crashes involving the companys buses have ended in fatalities. Did the medical staff not get to her before that because they wanted to give her the satisfaction of finishing the race on her own accord . Her own power . I dont know. She was close.
