And its been a busy week. A long, hard week for the people of puerto rico. Longer than a week, actually. Like ten days, now. Thats where were going to start this morning. Our top story. The situation in puerto rico becoming increasingly dire. Water, food and power remains scarce, ten days after marias direct hit. Adding to the problems, containers with muchneeded supplies are stuck at the port of san juan. Gabe gutierrez is there. Good morning. Reporter the reason many of the containers are still here is because of communications nightmare. Theres no power, no fuel, and drivers arent showing up to get the supplies. The acting Homeland Security secretary is set to visit puerto rico, this as the Trump Administration is pushing back hard that growing criticism that the federal government was caught offguard. At san juans port, thousands of shipping containers, supplies are just sitting there and not getting to people who need them in the wake of Hurricane Maria. We have not scaled up quick enough. Russel honore says maria is a much bigger challenge. And the Trump Administration isnt doing enough. We have to do better than we were doing now, otherwise were not going to get this done and people are going to suffer. Reporter the white house says there are enough people on the ground, including relief workers and troops. The president is behind you. Reporter at the cruise port, thousands of evacuees, standing in sweltering heat for hours, waiting to board a cruise ship for florida. Amy has been trying to get back to new jersey for days to see her kids. You literally cannot get off this island. If this ship didnt show up, i wouldnt be home until october. Reporter pit ball, trying to help. Many sick people here are in dire shape. Hospitals themselves in critical condition, waiting for fuel. Right now, the island is working 100 dependent on power generators. Power generators are not built to last forever. Its not sustainable. Now, to a new and frightening rock slide on el capitan. There was a massive rock fall on wednesday that killed a man and injured his wife. Miguel almaguer is there for us. Miguel, good morning. Reporter savannah, good morning. Thats el cap behind me, a soaring slap of granite thats been crumbling the last few days. After eight major rockslides, this park is still open. Dramatic video captures the terrifying moment. A wall of dust and boulders, thundering down the el capitan rock formation. The white crowd crashing 3,000 feet to the valley floor. Drivers watching as rocks come careening down the face of el cap. Its the second rock fall in as many days, striking without warning, at the peak of criming season. We need that ambulance. Reporter the falling rock injuring one man. Taken first by ambulance and then flown out of the park. The roadway below el cap, cut off. The dust making it impossible to see. At the summit, three climbers breathing a sigh of relief. We honestly wondered if the entire side of the wall we were standing on was going to collapse. It was horrific. Reporter the slide, leaving a gaping hole in the monoliths southeast face. It comes after a rock fall killed 32yearold Andrew Foster of wales. His wife suffering serious injuries, airlifted out of the park. The National Park service says this latest rockslide was significantly bigger than the first. Its huge. Tentimes bigger. At least. Reporter el cap, one of the most challenging climbs in the world, is a top destination for those living on the edge. Rock falls happen at yosemite about 80 times a year. But its unclear what triggered the latest slides. Park rangers say rockslides are about everyday life here in yosemite. And despite the new rockslides, theres no increased threat. One of the voices saying, down the hill. A man in colorado is being investigated for a possible link to the murders. Back in february, two best friends, 13yearold abbe williams, and 14yearold liberty german, went missing in delp delphi, indiana. Its a murder thats stumped investigators and tormented family members. The girls left behind clues, including a photo that could be their killer. And this short but haunting audio clip. Now, an arrest 1,000 miles away may provide a break in the case. Daniel nations was arrested after he threatened several people with a hatchet in mt. Herman. When police pulled over his car with expired indiana license plates. Hes a registered sex offender and that makes it a felon and illegal for him to possess weapons. Reporter Colorado Police are trying to determine if he had anything to do with the shooting death of a mountain biker in that area. We are investigating to see if theres any links. It happened that the complaints of the menacing charges happened the same weekend of our homicide.
