Officials on both sides of the river tell me right now, other than watching this river rise theres very little they can do as far as preparation for any anticipated flooding . We allow the ice to break up a bit and what causes it to flow. What causes the ice jam is when it started to break up a few days back it collects and it collects and blocks the rivers natural flow. What happens, you can see upstream flooding. It starts to back up and roll over its banks. What we also watch for is a quick break in the jam. If it breaks apart quickly enough we have to watch for down stream flooding and its in effect all the way through Tuesday Morning but may continue longer if necessary. Its looking like we need to watch this at least through wednesday. Something we need to watch with it is snow tomorrow evening. The ice jam is not the only threat our first alert team, she just said, is watching. The heaviest snow falling in Lehigh Valley, berks county and see if the commute is possible with this. This is not a big storm. It doesnt really have the potential for that, with the ground being so cold it certainly has the potential to stick. It could start by 6 00 a. M. In burkes county, Lehigh Valley, poconos but not affected by tomorrows rush. Maybe tomorrows afternoon rush is affected by chester and montgomery counties, from philadelphia southward even the afternoon rush tomorrow may be okay. It would be the wednesday morning rush that could be a problem. Thats how slow this thing is. By tomorrow 8 00 a. M. , the first flakes are reaching some of the northern western areas. You can see how cold it is and it would certainly stick, part of the issue. By 4 00 in the afternoon the computer model still doesnt have it up to philadelphia. But carla guzman says she knew from the start she knew something was not right. She was talking very hurried and i really couldnt understand what she was saying. Reporter from her home in abington she insisted the driver take the philadelphia turnpike believing it was the fastest route to philadelphia international. As soon as we got on the turnpike, she went crazy, started telling me that she didnt have an ez pass and she was going to be searched by police and get in trouble. Five minutes in, she says her driver suddenly got off the turnpike at Fort Washington and took the ramp to 309 north the opposite direction of the airport and then she say the driver kicked her out.
