It forced parents to find last minute childcare and left several bus drivers without a days pay. It damaged about 25 buses in south while hall township. Steven, in this case, the bus drivers not happy about their day off. Reporter no, they are not. For them this is hard to beli e believe. The garage and the buses are destroyed leaving kids with a day off but drivers with no job to go to. You would not even recognize theyre parkland buses. It was an inferno. The whole garage was under flame. 16 abundanbuses are still smoldering. About 3 15 this morning i heard banging and i looked out my front window and i just saw an inferno and smoke, and i thought thats where i work. She works at the middle cool. It is devastating. I cant believe the amount of damage and you can still smell the smoke. A fifth of the districts buses were damaged. Some charred, others had melted lights and cracked windshields. Some showed up to see the damage for themselves. All of the buses are assigned to a run, wane that, with these buses you cant run the district. Nothing like we have ever seen before, it is just mind boggling. A driver in parkland for 19 years and she hopes she is not out of work for too long. I think everyone is hoping well have buses to drive by monday. Each bus costs around 100,000. With 16 buses, you can guess how much that is going to cost. There is friendly neighbors, other districts that are helping out. They will try to get the buses back up and running to get kids to school on monday. A difficult day in parkland, florida today. The last time people were in the school rooms, 17 people were gunned down. Now theyre back in school for the First Time Since that day. The employees have gone back to get things they just abandoned last week. No one was required to back today and there was counselling for anyone that wanted it. The building will eventually be torn down. There will be a voluntary orientation on campus and students will go back to class on wednesday. In the meantime, were waiting to hear about the arms Security Officer on campus that never went in the school when the shooting began in is Scot Peterson from a 2015 school board meeting. If he had one guard he didnt turn out to be too good, i will tell you that. He turned out to the be not good. He was not a credit to law enforcement, that i can tell you. Broward county sheriff said peterson clearly knew there was a shooter in the building and stayed outside four minutes while the massacre took place.
