And the high will be 93. So feeling more like the mid to upper 90s as we make our way into the start of the workweek. The normal high right now is 83 degrees. So we are talking high temperatures close to 10 degrees above normal by today and monday. As you look at the vortex satellite and radar, some showers in the most Northern Tier of the viewing area. As we go into the afternoon, a slight chance of a shower or storm mainly north of the city. But overrule, a mostly sunny start to the weekend, and it stays that way. Here is why. This big area of High Pressure, it is in control. And quite frankly, for nearly the next seven days, nothing can break it. So we have a very stagnant pattern here. Lieutenant jim hayes, a 31year old veteran with the new york Fire Department, still hospitalized but expected to make a full recovery, following this frightening incident. You can hear the gushes and screams friday morning. The stand offstarted when authorities showed up at an apartment to serve roland tyree violation. I dont think he wanted to hurt nobody. Tyrees mother defended her son after he died during a shootout with police. Investigators say he used this ak47 to open fire during the sixhour standoff that the Fire Department responded to early on. As the Task Force Members approached the front door of the basement apartment of this residence, they observed the thick smoke coming from the apartment. Lieutenant james hayes went in to fight the fire, and police say tyree shot at him multiple times. Hayes was struck twice and both bullets exited his body. Once through the right calf. Both the mayor and fire commissioner have visited lieutenant hayes at the hospital and called the father of two a hero. The gunman garland tyree has a long rap sheet with 18 prior arrests including murder when he was a teenager. He eventually got convicted on a lesser charge. Sources tell us police had recently been investigating him in connection with several homicides in the city. In this video, posted on youtube, one year ago, tyree talks about gang life, a life he detailed in a book, and early friday, he posted these three words to his facebook page, today i die. And going back to lieutenant hayes, we are told his condition has definitely improved. And now the last time a firefighter with the fdny was shot and injured during an incident was in 1994. As soon as she said he was trying to rape her, i just reacted. Despite six stitches above the right eye and a swollen right hand that looks more like a water balloon, Maurice Osborne said we do it again. Was anybody else going to help her . No. I wish someone else did. I wish the conductor stay. But the conductor did not stay. The train left. While riding the 3 train wednesday morning at the bergen street station in park slope, osborne heard screams from a woman who investigators say was being sexually assaulted by 40 yearold al var row deneka, allegedly fondling himself in the last subway car before chasing the victim on to the platform and jumping on top of her. Osborne, 200 pounds, 61 and grabbed deneka by the collar as demonstrated on me. What was your reaction . He said he didnt do anything. Osborne says he continued to grab the man by the shirt and pulling him up the subway steps and across flatbush avenue to the 78th precinct where he turned the man into police. The 28yearold victim was following close behind and told investigators what happened. As for 37yearold osborne who is living in a shelter in bedstuy while studying to become a medical assistant i like helping people. It makes me feel useful. Then last fall, constances son suggested she try crossfit and helped her find this brooklyn gym. You said to me, you werent somebody who went to the gym or worked out. No. You never worked out. How does the weight feel . People have the perception that you have to be an exceptional physical genetic person to come in and make tremendous progress like this but it is just about consistency. What have you been most impressed about with constance . I think her attitude. I do fist bumps. People love seeing her. She lights up the room as she comes in. It is a psychosocial element and meeting people and expanding your social bees and having more people in your life that you can depend on and you can trust. For constance, that moment came in june. Her devoted husband, the man who took her to every crossfit session died suddenly. He was my encouragement. Still my encouragement. Encouragement that constance says will keep her working out. Constance says her husband passed away the day he was supposed to start his own fitness plan. But her crossfit family was there with her the whole way. Good for her.
