Reporter three men with flashlights seen in this Surveillance Video in the parking lot for Loomis Armored incorporated in hicksville are leaving the scene of a massive heist the kind that inspires hollywood blockbusters. It was around 10 30 p. M. On august 16 when police say these three suspects and up to two more in a getaway vehicle stole 1. 8 million from the vault inside this fortified Armored Car Company office which is ringed with more than a dozen security cameras. Millions, wow, big surprise. Reporter the man who manages a Manufacturing Business across the street said never imagined the vault inside loomis, inc. , was so loaded. With an estimated 20 million inside. This exterior wall is freshly patched to cover the hole where the thieves went in. Police say the suspects used a sledgehammer and hydraulic jacke through the wall and other tools to break into the vault. This was a very brazen sophisticated burglary. Reporter police say this heist was a professional job interrupted by an alert Nassau County officer on patrol. On the Surveillance Video you see the officer arrive. The officer said he knew something was up when he spied a Volkswagen Jetta with its trunk open. Police say he noticed 53year old he had guard medina edgar medina and chased him. Followed and caught the individual and recovered 1. 8 million in the trunk of his car. Reporter Police Called medina a career criminal with 10 prior arrests including for weapons possession. Good thing the police was around doing their job and, you know, got the work done. Medina is charged with burglary, grand larceny and possession of burglary tools. Police are searching for the man behind an attack in brooklyn. Investigators say the suspect seen here chased a mother of two right to her front door. The terrified woman spoke to cbs 2s hazel sanchez. She joins us live from bensonhurst with more. Hazel. Reporter well, dick it takes a lot of courage to talk about such a violent experience which happened right here on this quiet street. But the victim tells us that she wanted to bring attention to her violent attacker in hopes of helping police catch him because she says the man threatened to come back and now she fears for her life. Police are looking another longhaired man who they say attempted to rape a bensonhurst woman in front of her home. The victims own surveillance camera captured video of the attacker chasing her up to the [ nonenglish language ] reporter she is afraid, tells us. Were protecting her identity. Attack happened around 2 30 a. M. On wednesday, august 5. The victim was walking home from her bakery job when the suspect jumped her on 19th avenue near 74th street and forcibly kissed her neck. She broke free ran home but couldnt unlock her front door. So the suspect ran after her terrorizing her with a threat to return. [ speaking spanish ] he threatened her saying that in any of these days, like, he will come and rape her because he knows where she lives. Reporter the victim says her husband, who was home at the time, chased after the suspect and caught up with him outside this nearby grocery store. The two fought and the attacker vowed to go back to the familys home with friends to finish what he started. It creeps me out. Reporter the victims friend lives in the same multi family home. She and neighbors say they cant believe this attack happened on their peaceful block. I was really shocked because you never see this stuff going on in here. Im here 22 years. This block is nice. Reporter how scary is this for you to here then . Very scared. Very scared. Open. Reporter the suspect is described as an hispanic man in his 20s about 55 to 58 with a thin build and long dark hair. The victim says she believes he has a piercing in his nose and or lip. She says he is violent and he bit off part of her husbands finger when this fought. Reporter as a community mourns, questions remain about gunman vester flanagan, known on air as bryce williams. Investigators searched his apartment less than a mile from the tv station. Flanagan was fired from the station 2. 5 years ago. Back in 2013, for poor performance and conflicts with employees he was fired. He was placed on a final warning in december 2012 for failure to check his facts in a news story and generally for reporter according to an internal station memo that was part of a lawsuit by flanagan against the station, officers had to physically lift him from the chair. Dan denison was news director of wdbj at the time. When we terminated him i can tell you that he was probably the toughest termination we ever had or that i was ever involved in. Reporter flanagan complained about coworkers but station Officials Say they did thorough investigations and found no evidence to support his claims. Inside flanagans car police found extra license plates, a wig, shaul, along with a to do list. The manager of a roanoke restaurant says a few months ago she received rambling letters from flanagan after staff told him have a nice day instead of thank you. As for the woman parker was interviewing vicki gardner, she is in stable condition after being shot in the back. A sad time and showing strength. They were putting out food there covering this story. The devastating morning for three families in plainfield, new jersey, as fire ripped through their homes. Cell phone video captured firefighters arriving to a house fully engulfed in flames. No one was inside at the time. The flames then spread to two other homes on either side. The siding melted off one house and the other had heavy smoke and water damage. The house across the street was engulfed in fire. Like it took just seconds to put the whole house all you see is a big wall of fire. Mother and father, six kids in that house.
