Mamata offered prayers in a local temple and then filed her nomination. “I am a commoner and I will fight from Nandigram seat. I have filed my nomination. Mahadeb, Swadesh Das, Sushoma and Abdul Samad are my proposers. Among them, Sushoma is from martyr’s family,” Mamata said. Nandigram movement occurred in 2007 after CPI-M-led Left Front government tried to acquire land for a special economic zone. During protests by the farmers, 14 people had died in police firing.
