Western Bypass to be complete by December, CS Macharia says BUSINESS Nairobi expressway construction along Mombasa Road. [Jonah Onyango, Standard] The nightmare occasioned by the construction of the Sh17 billion Western Bypass, greatly inconveniencing motorists heading out of the city to the western side of the country, will be over at the end of this year. According to Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia, the road will be ready for use by December this year. According to Macharia, 64 per cent of roadworks on the bypass is now complete and the rest will be cleared in the next five months. "I have inspected the road and we are happy with the progress. The contractor - China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) - has assured me that in the next five months, the road will be complete," said Macharia.
