On this day, April 23, 1564 William Shakespeare was born. But, despite being arguably the most important playwright of all time, very little is actually known about the man himself.
However, he did leave one thing behind that tells us more about him than we could ever decipher from his plays - his will. Drafted about a month before his death in 1616, at the age of just 52, Shakespeare declared that he was “in perfect health & memorie, god be praysed.”
