Wilkes-Barre cleaning up, cracking down on illegal dumping :

WILKES-BARRE — Mayor George Brown’s administration is continuing efforts to clean up illegal dump sites and crack down on the scofflaws behind them.
A crew of Department of Public Works employees used payloaders to remove trash from a large dump site along railroad tracks between houses on Carlisle Street and Solomon Creek on Monday.
The debris filled two 40-cubic-yard dumpsters.
“We’re identifying sites like this throughout the city,” Brown said. “We’re going through bags and looking for evidence of who dumped it. We’re coming down hard on people doing the dumping. We issued 65 citations since I took office.”
