The property was transferred from the estate of Wallace Craig Dailey to Janice Greene on Jan. 30, 2020, for the cost of $1, according to the home's deed. Greene was not immediately available for comment. Prior to that, the home belonged to Dailey after he purchased it on May 5, 2017, for $48,000, according to New Hanover County property records. The home was transferred to his estate on Aug. 25, 2017, after Dailey died. Dailey was shot and killed in the 1300 block of Dawson Street on Aug. 25, 2017. According to previous StarNews reports, Dailey was fatally shot near an empty lot between an abandoned building and feet from the entrance of Club Seahorse where he had spent the evening with a friend. As he was walking home, his friend said he was confronted by a guy who asked for a light for a cigarette. When Dailey said he didn’t have one, he was shot.
