By TJ Facebook/WAPS (KWNO)- The Winona Senior High School will voluntarily switch to distance learning following their spring break in early March. “This a proactive measure. We realize it’s a little bit disruptive but that is why we wanted to announce it now, more than a month before spring break starts to give our staff and our families time to prepare,” said Winona Area Public Schools (WAPS) Communications Coordinator John Casper. Casper says the goal of the switch is to preserve in-person learning days and to prevent students from bringing the virus back to school with them from their spring break destinations. Casper said local health officials are particularly concerned about the virus spreading among high-school-aged students.
