The former South Carolina Real Estate Broker claiming more victims taunting the fbi in a new letter saying his killing spree goes far beyond the seven victims he was convicted of killing and, amy, you have more. This is a remarkably chilling development. We know Todd Kohlhepp is claiming he t arrest that, yes, he has more victims. But he says authorities did nothing about it. It was the case that riveted the nation. Kala brown discovered alive after she was chained up for two months by the ankle and neck and held in a metal shipping contain on this property in rural South Carolina. Her boyfriend found dead in a 1458 low grave nearby and Todd Kohlhepp was arrested, later found guilty of killing seven people. This morning kohlhepp is Taunting Police and the fbi from behind bars telling them there are even more victims. In an eightpage letter to the spartanburg heraldjournal he said there is more than seven. I tried to tell investigators and i did tell fbi but it was blown off. Kohlhepp saying his killing spree may have crossed state lines and even borders writing at this point i really dont see reason to give numbers or locations. We told him before he left to go to whatever prison hes at that wed be him about any past crimes that he could tell us in the future. He said at the Court Hearing he had none. Reporter after being released brown told dr. Phil her captor bragged about murdering hi Staggering Amount of people. He would brag about how many people hes killed. How good he was at it. How many people did he tell you he killed . He said he was near the threedigit mark so almost a hundred. Reporter something he told daniel gross, a reporter hes been exchanging letters with since his sentencing. He went on to describe that, yes, there is more than seven and didnt go into a lot more detail other than that. Now, the fbi South Carolina office is declining to comment on kohlhepps claims but the spartanburg sheriff we spoke to said his department is willing to help the agency and Law Enforcement officials within any jurisdiction if it means getting more justice for any of his other potential victims out there. Theres no Death Penalty in South Carolina so hes going to sit in prison for the rest of his life and writes an eightpage letter and says, yeah, theres many others and i have a pilot license, ive been around the world but i wont give you names or specifics. Is he sending them on a fishing expedition. They have to look into it. How do they go about it. They will. They wont leave any stones unturned and look in areas hes been in the past decade. Unsolved homicides theyll look at it. Any of his dna or conversation with him. Getting into the mind of a serial killer and dont want to get into that kind of mind we see this from time to time bragging about things that didnt happen. They want attention on them. Hes in prison and writes this letter. Ideology he wants it to continue. His madness to keep that fear out there. As you can understand how concerning it is Port Authority is the major bus terminal in new york city but its also where you find a lot of subway systems underground. So many underground. This is the area thateo all across new york, all across new jersey. They come to Port Authority. As you can imagine, so many people are here. Police right now are trying to divert crowds from getting near Port Authority. Trying to contain this. Right now they say one person is in custody. Only a few injuries but police do have video, they say, and are confident that this is contained right now, george. This is such a major hub, the largest bus terminal in the united states, busiest by volume. Its going to tie up traffic here in the new York New Jersey area for days and, of course, gio, this area always on such high alert. Reporter always on such high alert because were so close to times square, george. You know that. Were just blocks away from times square and when you look at Port Authority. Im looking at it right now. Its just this massive structure that just goes on for blocks and blocks so right now we have ambulances on the scene. So many ambulances, so many officers that just immediately dispatched here. Clearly trying to get a hold a handle of this situation. People sort of confused that are here trying to catch whatever train or bus they need to to get over to as they commute to work. Okay, gio, thanks very much. Port Authority Just a short distance from here and hearing the Emergency Personnel making their way that way. Pierre thomas is in washington and what are you learning, pierre . Reporter well, were working with our federal sources. They been alerted by nypd that this is ongoing. Obviously theres great concern because mass transit has been something that Law Enforcement has long been concerned about. Apparently based on gios reporting that this is relatively contained but i can tell you this will send shock wave as cross washington because Law Enforcement as george said has already been on high alert looking for the potential of any kind of attack over the Holiday Season. Serves 225,000 people every single day, 85 Million People a year. Port authority, major hub here in new york city for the entire region. The good news are hearing from police that they believe the situation is contained. We have the former Police Commissioner right now, ray kelly, on the phone as well. Ray, as weve talked about so many times, so much concern about times square and the Port Authority. Absolutely, transportation hubs are always, you have to be concerned about. As you said very volume of people go into the Port Authority every day. The location where buses come in and people are on the subway and thank god it sounds like its been eliminated. We know there was an explosion of some sort of device exploded and there are injuries. Somebody, who theyre talking to, not certain if that person is under arrest or not. But right now the word is that its limited in nature. But the reason theres always so much concern here, ray, as weve seen attacks like this in the past where in the panic after the initial explosion, there are often followon attacks. Well, we always have to watch out for additional attacks, particularly attacks that are aimed at First Responders and thats something i know this Police Department does, you have to be worried about secondary attacks because anything like this is going to attract a lot of First Responders as you can seen 0 television, lots of police officers, lots of firefighters there, so, yes, you have to be very careful examining the scene to make certain there is no other device or no other plan to attack First Responders. Yeah, that is a live look at the scene right now. People walking away from the Port Authority and, gio, you know, you cant know for sure but right now it appears the evacuation is going relatively calmly. Reporter thats right, george. I was concerned about how i would feel sitting down with the people who had lost something that they none of us could imagine. Their children. What that could be like. I was so affected covering the story when it happened but i walked away feeling so inspired by those people who have turned an unimaginable tragedy into an incredible mission. Who can forget the mindnumbing horror of newtown, connecticut. It is certainly so difficult here in newtown. Reporter the Sandy Hook Elementary School where 20 Young Children and 6 adults were murdered five years ago this week, the mass shooting we hoped would be the last. I cant imagine your reaction when you turn on the news and you see another one. I have made a very deliberate decision to invest every fiber of my being into trying to prevent that from happening again. Reporter mark lost his son daniel that day. He called him his special little buddy. Life affected so many people in a positive way but in his murder has affected i cant even tell you. Reporter while some parents and groups made sandy hook a battle cry for gun reform and an assault weapons ban, barden cofounded the Sandy Hook Promise, a foundation whose goal is to prevent shootings and violence in school at its root. We are training people, students, parents, teachers, how to recognize the warning signs that people give off before they hurt themself. Before they hurt somebody else. Can everyone in the back room hear me. Reporter students are learning different ways to reach out to each other. Nice to meet you. Reporter and make sure no one is isolated or alone. A remarkable and sometimes even joyful lesson, born from a national tragedy. Several loved ones from sandy hook have made it their mission. I could do a double salchow and thats about it. Soups pretty good. It was bad and then i gave it up and went to college it all worked out. I know. Basically. Which means this movie was perfect for you. It was a perfect fit for me although i didnt get to skate at all. You play tonyas mom. Yes. In the movie. Playing her mom, tonya was at the premiere. How was it meeting her . Im sure like us you knew this story, you felt in and out before this movie. I did, i did and i thought one thing about her and now i think something altogether different having done the movie, have a lot more empathy for her but i yeah, i didnt meet her during the filming o filming. Margot robbie and my friend Steven Rogers who wrote it met with her extensively but i saw her on the red carpet and almost started crying seeing her. She was crying. She was so overwhelmed and when i saw her i was speechless. I just wanted to hug her because she came up to me and said what a great job i did portraying her mother and i just felt made me really sad. You talk about that empathy. People forget what a villain she was. Thats how she was portrayed, though. I think she was portrayed as one thing. It was the advent of the 24hour news cycle and they put it out there that she was evil and nancy was the princess. Its like a story you cant make up. Yeah but when you see it there is a lot more nuance to it and what she her life, her upbringing, you dont the movie doesnt completely exonerate her but makes you question what exactly her hand in all of that was and she had a lot of questionable characters in her life that you just have to see it. You have a better understanding. Yes, you do, yeah, and you think maybe i thought i misjudged her. I think she was misuped a bit. Lets see a little bit. I am so sorry but theres no smoking on the ice. Oh. Ill smoke it quietly. Be ware the devil woman this is my daughter tonya. I told you on the phone i know what you told me though youve never seen her skate. I dont train beginners. All she does is talk about skating all day and night. Cant shutter up about it so its easier for me to put her on ice. How do you smoke quietly . [ applause ] yeah, exactly. Years of training. Years of training you smoke quietly. Its a very noisy activity and we know margot got to met tonya. You didnt get to meet velivona. Would you have liked to. I would have loved to met her and had a gazillion questions about our upbringing and four husbands she had and i dont know at this point i dont think i want to meet her because its already in the can. Unless we do an i, livona movie. With the bird on the shoulder. My favorite hands down favorite animal costar ever. And not at first. I was terrified im more of a dog and cat person and birds scare me. I dont know what you know, they kind of freak me out a little bit so i had to meet i auditioned three burs for that role. [ laughter ] i did. The bird lady was so lovely. She said, see which one, you know, you can connect with. The other two would crawl in my hair and just freaked me out and little man, his name is little man. Little man. He just sat on my shoulder and hung out there and i was like, okay, yeah, this guy and was just couldnt he was all in my ear and all over the place but he kind of fueled my performance a little bit because he got me a little worked up and irritated. As i was telling my story. Livon had her unique style which you captured very well. This movie as robin said is raving about it. And everyone at home make sure you see it. And we want to bring you the latest right now on that explosion at the Port Authority here in new york. Earlier at the height of rush authority, that is a live look right now at the scene. The largest, the busiest bus terminal in the united states, according to Police Sources one man set off the explosion, he is now in custody badly injured. Another person in the terminal also injured. The terminal has been closed right now but we want to go right to abcs gio benitez who is on the scene. Gio. Reporter hey, george, i want you to look at this. You have all of these officers here. You have all of these ambulances and fire truck, the bomb squad is here on the scene. No doubt so many people were here so if only another person was injured and the suspect that is truly a miracle, george. Because were talking about so many people coming through this terminal not just for the buses but also for the subway system, we know that they were evacua evacuating the major subway lines here in new york city. Now, the working theory right now, the suspicion is that this detonated earlier than intended because it was underground going through this passageway where not too many people were and so thats the good news here is that this could have been so much worse had it detonated where it was supposed to, but right now that is just a suspicion that is just something theyre working on, george, trying to confirm. No doubt so many people in this area right now police say that this seems to be contained. The information is just coming in. The suspect, what we know about the suspect, the suspect from bangladesh been in this country about seven years, was living in brooklyn. Apparently wearing the pipe bomb on his person when it went off as gio seemed to indicate a little prematurely. A lot more to be learned right now and want to go to our senior justice correspondent Pierre Thomas for more on that. Anyone claiming responsibility right now . Any other information coming in to federal officials . Reporter no one has claimed responsibility, george. But i can tell you that attorney general Homeland Security officials a t country have been briefed. Theyre awaiting additional information. George, there has been great concern can the upcoming Holiday Season that you could see an event like this. Two officials that i spoke to are just so thankful, george, that so far it appears to be contained with limited injuries, george, but this has major implications for the upcoming Holiday Season, clearly someone was trying to hurt or kill as many people as they could. Everyone will be on high alert. I want to bring in brad garrett for more on this. Well, what may have been the saving grace here, brad, is that it was a relatively crude weapon. Right, this is going to be amateur hour, george. He probably learned online how to build a pipe bomb. The tricky part obviously is the timer. That obviously didnt work out well for him. And its interesting that he had it on his person. Okay. Well, thats what we have right now. An explosion at the Port Authority here in new york city at the height of rush hour.
