Woman flees deputy during traffic stop, tops 100 MPH before crashing into stand of trees Updated Mar 09, 2021; LEELANAU COUNTY, MI -- A 27-year-old Ypsilanti woman was hospitalized after she crashed her car into a stand of trees following a chase Saturday evening that involved the woman hitting speeds of 100 MPH. According to the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Officer, the woman -- how has not been identified -- was traveling along South Maple City Road near Kasson Road in Kasson Township around 8:29 p.m. when a deputy attempted to pull her over for her tail lights not being on. As the deputy attempted to stop her, she sped away before slowing down at the intersection of South Maple City Road and East Traverse Highway. The deputy gave the woman verbal commands, but she was uncooperative and fled the scene again. This time the woman reached speeds of more than 100 MPH with the deputy following behind her heading westbound on East Traverse Highway.
