Ranchi: Breaking her silence for the first time over the appointments of the Tribes Advisory Council (TAC) by the Hemant Soren government, Jharkhand’s outgoing tribal governor Droupadi Murmu said she would not question the state dispensation’s move but said there are certain constitutional provisions which should be respected by everyone as the ‘Geeta’. Murmu, the first tribal and female governor of the state, further said there is a necessity for some amendments in the Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act (Act) and the Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act (SPT) — the two crucial laws for safeguarding the rights and lands of the state Adivasis — to reduce conflicts and for the overall progress of the tribal community.
