City of Kalamazoo logo KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — While the City of Kalamazoo plans to roll out a comprehensive effort to reduce the cityâs carbon footprint later this summer, one of its biggest environmental initiatives is to end the notorious odor on the northeast side of the city, which is already underway. Utilities Director Jim Baker updated commissioners on progress. He says work continues on several air filtration facilities at the Wastewater plant…and they have just added 3 new above-ground odor detectors. He says they are also working on a 24-hour odor complaint website. “Community members will be able to go to the webpage and they can see the Envirosuite system up with sensor read-outs.”
