Jim weve had a full week now of heat. Today 93 degrees. The seventh day of heat wave number three. The average high for this time of the year is 87 degrees. And even now its still 90 degrees in philadelphia. Little bit cooler in allentown and reading, 85 degrees. Millville 88. Wilmington 87. And with that sea breeze at the shore a lot cooler on the beaches, temperatures there in the 80s. However, with that sea breeze, you also get higher humidity at the shore with dewpoints in the 70s but inland generally were looking at dewpoints in the low to mid 60s. So, its just slightly humid. The humidity is not oppressive. But its higher than over the weekend and tomorrow will be another hot and humid day. But satellite6 along with action radar showing what will end our heat wave. Its a cold front across the great lakes. That will be moving through tomorrow and as it does, it could touch off a few thunderstorms even overnight but generally what it will do is break the heat wave. Tonight for the evening planner, though, you can see it will be a warm night even by 10 oclock, temperatures will still be in the 80s. So, this is what to expect as we head through the week. Tomorrow another hot day. Could be the eighth day of our heat wave if we hit 90 degrees and thats a good possibility. Once that cold front slips through, it will stall to the south, a wave of low pressure develops along that and thursday and friday could bring much needed rain. Im tracking some showers and thunderstorms perhaps some heavy rain and along with that a big pattern change, temperatures going from above normal to well below normal and staying cool for awhile. Reporter jim, were actually across the street from major crimes and investigators there tell us that the skimming devices look so real its tough for people to tell the difference. Theyll put the skimmer right here on the face of the card in slot and it will be the same color but theyll put a camera up here which will shoot down and watch you put your pin number in. Once they have all that information, they go to work stealing your cash. Philadelphia police say this is the man who has been placing skimming devices on center city atms during the past month. Investigators say he put a skimmer and a camera on this 7eleven atm on the 800 block of walnut not once but twice in midjuly. Each time he likely left it there for a day or two before retrieving the skimmer and the valuable information he captured from peoples debit and credit cards. You would be surprised at the number of people who use atm machines now within a two day period 600 to a thousand people use 1atm machine. Reporter captain rowland lee of major crime says criminals are using skimmer devices to steal money and charge goods. The suspect is also wanted for installing the device on the 200 block of market and may be responsible for several crimes in montgomery county. Any time you use the atm machine myself i give eight little jiggle. I know its being a little paranoid but i give eight little jiggle to make sure its legitimate. Reporter and police say when you are putting your pin number in you should use your other hand to cover up your other finger when youre touching the numbers so if there is a camera it wont see what your pin number s now detectives tell me they dont have an exact dollar figure in amounts stolen nor the number of victims who had their information stolen. First preseason game in less than two weeks. The eagles have made a ton of changes to their roster. One of the biggest was that running back. Our Jeff Skversky joins us live from south philadelphia with the latest on Demarco Murray. Jeff. Hey, ducis. Chip kelly completely blew up this roster. 10 and six in his minds was not good enough. He did not think they were capable of winning playoff games so there are nine new starters, five on offense and one of the best running backs in all of football is now a philadelphia eagle. Lets take a look. New eagles pro bowl running back Demarco Murray for the eagles trying to replace the eagles all time leading rusher lesean mccoy. Murray who led the nfl in rushing last year is trying to learn this new offense in a new city. His first four years in the league were on the other side of the heated rivalry playing for the hated cowboys. Now hes an eagle but does he feel at home here in philadelphia yet . I do. I definitely do. Ive been here for a couple months and become part of this team and great team, great group of guys, great group of coaches and Great Organization so like i said i definitely feel like a eagle and working with these guys has been amazing so im happy. The eagles defense looks completely different too. Three of the four in the secondary are different. Free agent corner Byron Maxwell will play opposite Nolan Carroll and safety walter that you remember mon gets a shot opposite the only familiar face back there in Malcolm Jenkins after they had the second worst defense against the pass last year. I think were better than we were the last two games last year and, you know, whether that be with upgrades or just the understanding of the defense i just think we are one step ahead of where we were last year. Everybody in the world right now is happy with what they have and changes theyve made. The reality of the nfl is until you start hitting sundays for real, not the preseason games and guys showing how they do in the heat of battle against the main quarterbacks and receivers, you dont know if youre better or worse.
