Heres a live look at the schuylkill expressway at the vine street expressway. Eastbound traffic is we can still see the blockade set up right there. It remains closed. Police are on the scene for that overnight construction that i warned you about but should be reopened within another half hour. In the meantime theyll come back again tonight at 11 00 and shut the schuylkill eastbound down in that area. Overall looking at the big picture westbound on the schuylkill between conshohocken curve and the turnpike tolls we had construction that has cleared. The traffic is moving a lot better right now. Thanks karen. Breaking this morning, firing is burning through bridget foys restaurant on south street. Crews called a second alarm as they battled the flames and heavy smoke. Action News ReporterKatherine Scott is live on the scene at second and south streets where the flames are still rising behind you, katherine. Reporter thats absolutely right, matt and the fire commissioner told me one firefighter was taken to the hospital as a precaution but no serious injuries were reported. But you can see this is an active scene here. Firefighters are still blasting water at the flames that have been burning for hours now. This fire broke out early this morning. There was nobody inside at the time. But you can see they are still at work here. Again no, reports of serious injuries but there is quite a bit of damage. 11 people have been displaced from year by apartments and the work continues here. The call came in around 1 1 15 a. M. Fire in the basement at the popular restaurant bridget foys on the 200 block of south street, headhouse square right now is just covered with firefighting equipment. Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke in the basement. More than 100 firefighters responded. The restaurant closes at 10 00 p. M. On tuesdays and were told the restaurant was shut down at the time that the fire began. Fire crews started with an interior attack but then they had to pull out because conditions were just too dangerous inside. The flames are intense and firefighters have been working to prevent the spread to surrounding buildings. Very stubborn fire. Firefighters as they always do made an aggressive interior attack, went in and found the fire, started to extinguish the fire, again very deep seated stubborn very intense fire. We pulled everybody out. Were currently as you can see doing what we call an exterior attack. Were protecting all the surrounding buildings. Red cross relief is on the scene. They said two dogs from a groomers next door died. The fire marshals are on the scene. Action News ReporterJeanette Reyes is live now at Police Headquarters with the latest on the investigation. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter good morning, tam. At this hour, police are seeking two witnesses and as you mentioned they did say they heard a Heated Exchange before those gunshots were fired. This morning, police are investigating a double shooting that left two 16yearolds dead. This after receiving numerous calls. They arrived on scene to find both boys on the ground, each with at least one gunshot wound to the chest and torso. Philadelphia police placed them in cruisers and rushed them to the hospital where they were both pronounced dead less than an hour later. Witnesses tell homicide detectives they heard a Heated Exchange before the gunshots were fired. The motive were getting from witnesses right now was some sort of argument that led to the shootings. We dont know what the argument was over but witnesses heard arguing and then the gunshots. Reporter and at this hour, police do not have a suspect description or arrests have not been made. Developing this morning the manhunt for a suspect who escaped custody led police to a warehouse filled with drugs and weapons. Philadelphia police are still searching for the suspect right now. Someone let conde out of the back of the cruiser. Police dogs tracked condes scent to a warehouse on russell street. Investigators say inside was a heroin packaging location loaded with guns and illegal weapons. The superintendent announced smoke damage from the fire will take three days to clean. The Burlington CitySchool District will be pushing back the start time for middle school and High Schoolers come next september. The district says it will delay opening until 8 00 a. M. , 20 minutes later than the current start time. School officials are responding to studies showing later start times improve student performance because teenagers tend to stay up later and get up later. Burlington city plans to trim lunch and class time by a few minutes to make up the time. Two Political Consultants connected to philadelphia congressman bob brady have been indicted on federal corruption charges. Kenneth smuckler and donald jones are accused of orchestrating a team to pay off a rival democrat to get him to drop out of the race. Prosecutors say the pair illegally donated 90,000 to jimmy moore when he was running in a primary against brady in that 2012. Federal law imposes a 2,000 limit from one campaign to another. Moore and his Campaign Manager previously pleaded guilty to concealing the payment. Congressman brady denies any wrongdoing and hasnt been charged. Newly released fbi documents paint a disturbing portrait of the Newtown School shooter. 22yearold adam lanza shot and killed 20ness first graders and six educators before killing himself in december of 2012. Fbi documents say there was evidence lanza had an interest in children that could be categorized as pedophilia but there was no proof he ever acted out on that interest. The records also say there was evidence lanza began contemplating the attack nearly two years earlier. Also new a former school aide and track coach in maryland has been hit with several more charges to his already lengthy indictment for sexual assault. 30yearold carlos bell who is hiv positive has a total of 206 charges against him.
