In that fact, only 9 percent eat enough veggies and about 12 percent eat enough fruit every day. The lead author of this study says not eating the recommended amount increases the risk for chronic illnesses including diabetes and heart disease. The cdc laid out plans to improve access to fruits and vegetables especially in low income areas.
