Cover off the coast more clouds off to the west probably fall apart before we get here. The story is the temperature and the wind chill and right now your numbers are not kind. 10 degrees in allentown currently, 11 degrees on the thermometer in trenton, 13 degrees in philadelphia, just 12 in wilmington. 11 in reading. 12 in millville. Cape may 16. Not much better there. And winds are beginning to build and probably get a little bit stronger after sunrise, even now weve got a wind chill making it feel like its 3 degrees below zero in philadelphia and trenton and allentown. Four below in reading. Seven below in lancaster. Zero in wilmington and negative two in millville, new jersey. Temperatures across the rest of the afternoon staying pretty chilly. Little better than yesterday when we stopped at a high of 20. Today model has us up to about 24. I actually think were going to get to about 26 by, say, 3 oclock or so. Lots of sunshine today but enough of a wind running west eight to 16 Miles Per Hour where those wind chills will remain in the Single Digits up until about lunchtime and hold on or about 12 through the afternoon. Very raw out there. Youll want to bundle up and cover up once again. Karen well be back with the latest on that potential noreaster coming in wednesday in it through thursday. Vacation is over. On the big picture dont forget in roxborough that water main break from yesterday weve seen a lot of those, this ones still causing an issue here and thats jamestown avenue at henry avenue. To avoid it stick to walnut lane as your alternate. And that new water main break we have been talking about Jeanette Reyes has been on the scene in northeast philadelphia a residential area, an icy area on minden road at medford road. If youre here, you want to stick to lester road and dunks ferry to get around that. I told you about this trashy problem on the turnpike. We had some trash on the road and cars kind of swerving around it but they cleared it up. Youre good to go now westbound on the pennsylvania turnpike past willow grove, seeing those speeds and that green traffic flow for now, matt. Thank you, karen. From the trash back to the icy water. That water main break you mentioned is breaking right now. It created an icy mess in a northeast philadelphia neighborhood. Action News ReporterJeanette Reyes is live at the scene on minden street. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter good morning, matt. I just got off the phone with the Water Department. Theyre telling me theyre barely keeping up with all of these calls of broken water mains. Take a live look behind me. They did shut the water off, thats what the overnight crew does. However, repairs wont start until 9 30 and you can see the road is an icy mess made worse after hundreds of gallons of water came pouring onto minden road. Take a look at this video here that we were able to get. Hopefully youre seeing where one of the homes there are three homes impacted and by impacted i mean water in the basement, in the garage and one of the homes you can see the water is pretty leveled off. This is in a driveway that dips down quite a few feet. So, the homeowners, we tried talking to them, they are understandably pretty upset about this. They are looking at quite a bit of damage as a result. So, now, numbers that rye got from the Water Department, at this point we know 125 homes dont have service until this is fixed. That will start at 9 30. That is what the day crew does. At 9 30 theyll get down into the ground, theyll repair this water main which im told is 8inches. Its not nearly as bad as it could be but certainly quite an inconvenience for these residents. At this point we know age is usually a factor but more than anything, the temperatures, these frigid temperatures are quite a big contributing factor. We are going to see these cold temperatures for days to come and the Water Department will try their best to keep up. As soon as we get some more information well be sure to pass it right along but as karen has been saying, minden and medford roads, if you can avoid it, do your best to do that. Reporting live in northeast philadelphia, Jeanette Reyes, channel6 action news. Tam. Good advice. Thank you jeanette. Most models having this storm far enough off our coast to give us more of a minor impact but there are a couple of scenarios. One would be a little closer and that would give much of the region several inches of snow. The second track would be farther off the coast and in that case only areas right down by the coast would see snow. Having said that, the model projections are still varying somewhat. Future tracker6 showing you that the arrival time is probably after about 8, 9 oclock at the shore and then by 5 00 a. M. Thursday, possibly spreading to the west of philadelphia depending on which model bears out. European model, though, only also has from about philadelphia to the shore one to 3 inches and maybe one or less on the northern and western suburbs. Having said that i do want to quickly show you that as usual, there is a wide variety in model projections. These are projections for philadelphia. Were thinking somewhere in the. 2 up to 1. 1 or maybe 3inch range is probably most likely with a higher amounts building down toward the shore. But the rpms a little bit higher, 5inches and if that storm was to veer a little closer to the coast we could be looking at a more impactful storm. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, todays high is 26 brisk cold. If youve been hibernating, 31 degrees a little bit better on wednesday. As you saw in the evening and late night, snow sweeps in off the coast and continues for a good portion of the day on thursday. It is a noreaster. It will be windy and cold with a high of 29. But right now were leaning toward a one to 3inch accumulation. Keep your eyes on these storms, though, whenever you see them coming in the forecast as they can always veer a little closer and give us more. Right now it looks like a fairly minor impact. Then an accuweather alert on friday and saturday because behind that storm, yeah, we get another shot of bitter cold air. 16 is the high on friday, 17 on saturday.
