And overnight into tomorrow morning in the very least we are looking at snow arriving and theres a winter storm watch highlighted in these bright pink shades along the coastal counties of delaware and new jersey and an advisory has been posted up to the Delaware River and then up through dover in delaware. In all of these areas travel could be difficult especially overnight tonight and then in through tomorrow morning. In terms of whats going on right now, though, again, sunshine a plenty a little later this morning and then this cloud cover that you see welling up from the south in association with that approaching coastal storm will start to overtake us as we go through the day. Temperatures on the way out the door are still qualifying for coat weather definitely and heavy coat at that. 11 degrees in trenton, 16 degrees in philadelphia. 12 in wilmington. We drop to four in allentown and just 2 degrees in reading. A little bit better down through south jersey. Some spots in the mid spent as you get closer to the coast arent the winds are a factor this morning. Not as bad as theyve been recently. In fact in some cases youve got wind chill values the same along the temperature and that would indicate very light winds. So, were getting a little better in that regard. And as we go through the afternoon temperatures are going to moderate and it wont be as harsh later on. By 11 oclock were up to 23 and we get up to about 30 or so for a high. This model has 29. Do notice how the cloud cover is increasing. In terms of snow arriving, it looks like its going to hold off a little bit. Probably until about 11 oclock to midnight before it starts to push into the shore. And some models have it only pushing up about halfway to philadelphia from the shore by about 4 00 in the morning and then beginning to get a little bit closer to us after that. There are other that is have the placement farther to the west though. Well go over that variability coming up in a moment and give you a shot at our snowfall estimate for whats going to be on the ground by the time this is all said and done tomorrow. Karen, thats coming up. What have you got in traffic right now. Weve got problems right now in cherry hill. This is our breaking news. Yet another water main break in a busy area and the action cam is now live on the scene showing us this area. You got to watch out for ice anywhere youre going to get water main breaks. Were looking live at the latest water main break on busy route 70 eastbound. Youre seeing cars move by. You see the cones there as well. Its the left lane that remains blocked on route 70 and we can see also theyve got the crews out there trying to deal with this. Looks like the road may have buckled a little bit as well. Dealing with that on route 70 cherry hill camden county, 70 eastbound. This is just past kings highway. If you know cherry hill, i mean, everybody is going and the on 70 eastbound past kings highway. Thats a busy area and people off traveling that come off the ben franklin bridge. Watch for ice out there, water main break blocking the left lane. Well have to see how long they stay out here today but traffic is moving by but one lane blocked. Its not our only water main break of course. In cheltenham, cheltenham avenue at coventry avenue. Another on woodland avenue at old soldiers road. West conshohocken we have this water main break from yesterday and the road buckling on balligomingo road near front street. This remains blocked. Stick to 320 or matsonford road as well. On the vine street expressway weve got this bag of trash, its been blocking the right lane and the shoulder so watch for that one as youre heading out as well, tam. Lot going going on. People waking up to no water or low water pressure. Even as crews have worked through the night to repair water main breaks in Montgomery County f action News Reporter Jeanette Reyes is live along balligomingo road in West Conshohocken with the latest. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter good morning, tam. This was an icy complicated mess. Were talking about a massive 30inch water main but we just got word they might wrap up as soon as 9, 10 oclock this morning. Theyre putting down that segment of new pipe into the ground. I know that since this morning the pressures have begun to build up and recover. Were hoping to be within a 24hour period, we hope to be back up to full pressure and the leak repaired. Reporter nearly 24 hours after a major water main break, crews are still working here in West Conshohocken off of balligomingo road. The massive 30inch main burst yesterday morning causing the road to buckle and power lines to come down. The summer Wood Corporation buildings suffered flooding damage once that water came gushing downhill. Flooded everything out here, came through the building, out the back door. Were going to run off a generator and theyre going to have to work around the clock to get it fixed. Reporter if homes werent flooded they most likely saw loss of power and water service. About 1,000 customers saw their Service Interrupted just after the main ruptured. We dont have children, Young Children in the house but i cant imagine if, you know for parents who do i cant imagine the hardship. This is crazy. Reporter and coming back out live to us, you can see that clamp that theyre going to put down in the ground about 30inches there and you cant stress enough really how dependent people are on this. A Business Owner came up to me and said hes trying to decide whether or not he should open up the business today. He has 150 employees that are ready to come to work. So, if this holds true and theyre done by 9, 10 oclock this morning, im sure a lot of people here both residents and homeowners will be happy about that. Well let you know as soon as we get confirmation and a more exact time and of course if anything changes. Reporting live in West Conshohocken, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. Matt. Hopefully it will be soon. Thank you jeanette. Frozen water mains are rupturing in communities across the area because of these cold temperatures. Water was bubbling up to the surface along the 5300 block of addison street in West Philadelphia last night and quickly froze. The entire street was blocked off as some sections turned to ice and the rest flowed downhill into the sewers. No word on how long the repairs at this location will take. This bitter cold has led to vehicles across the Delaware Valley to tell their drivers, sorry, im taking a nice long break. Aaa says it responded to more than 2,000 calls for roadside assistance just yesterday in the philadelphia five county area and most of those calls involved dead batteries. 32 degrees, youre looking about 35 percent of your battery life is gone and at 0 degrees youre looking at 60 percent of your battery life is gone. Mechanics recommend carrying a portable charging system in your vehicle plus check the air pressure on your vehicles tires. Cold air will condense, lowering tire pressure as the temps drop. And with the chance of snow in some areas during tomorrow mornings commute action news is starting early. Well be tracking the snowfall and the impact on traffic tomorrow morning at 4 00. New overnight an officer with the Philadelphia Housing Authority is recovering after a car crash. It happened around 12 30 this morning at the intersection of 45th street and woodland avenue in southWest Philadelphia. The officers car then ended up hitting a parked car. The driver in the other vehicle was also being treated for injuries. No word on who was at fault. Also new, tensions between north korea and the u. S. Remain high even as north korea says it will reopen a long suspended cross border hotline with south korea. The move helps pave the way for official talks between the two sides about sending a north korean delegation to the next months Winter Olympics in south korea. The announcement comes after President Trump responded to kim jong uns new years day speech where he said there was a Nuclear Button on his desk and his missiles could strike the u. S. Last nigh threat of his own. Will someone from this depleted and food starved regime please inform him that i, too, have a Nuclear Button but it is a much bigger and more powerful one than his, and my button works. All right. Lets turn now to dave murphy and it just feels like cold snow, cold snow. Yeah, kind of, right . We do have some moderation at the end of the sevenday but all eyes are on the noreaster and as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan of course theres nothing out there just yet. N fact we have clear skies over the Commodore Barry bridge. You can see the plane taking all from Philadelphia International airport up the river and its cold this that way until very late tonight t currently 16 degrees in philadelphia, though, so you will want the winter coat the extra layers all that good stuff. Just 4 degrees currently in allentown and only two in reading. 12 degrees in wilmington, 11 in trenton and 24 degrees in cape may. Little bit of a wind chill but winds overall not that bad. Again, satellite showing you the need for shades early. You can see these clouds creeping up south of roanoke, virginia, though and that is in association with that coastal storm coming up for later tonight and tomorrow. In the Lehigh Valley sun will give way to clouds today. It wont be as harsh with a high of 28 alittle bit of a wind chill but not as bad as yesterday and in philadelphia i should say at the shore 34 degrees, sun giving way to clouds, not as bad there as well. And in philadelphia, sun giving way to clouds, not nearly as bitter today with an afternoon high of 31. Youll still want some extra gear but today isnt a bad day to get out there and get some things done. The winds overall not really running all that strong. Now overnight tonight that storm gets closer to us. The winds pick up dropping down out of the north around the top of that area of low pressure. Lots of clouds building and snow will be arriving probably after midnight and overnight low of 23, there would support at the outset anyway sort of a light fluffy snow. In terms of the arrival looks like its going to be delayed a little bit. Were looking at it coming down the shore around 11 00 or midnight. And theres variation on the models as to how far west this can actually push. This model run has 4 oclock position, about halfway between the shore and philadelphia and not really in the i95 corridor just yet. And then while it does put a little bit of snow out to the western suburbs it very quickly kicks the storm off the coast. Not all models agree with this. The euro, for example, throws at least light snow all the way back up into allentown from this storm and areas very close to philadelphia down about halfway to twothirds of the way to atlantic city, would get about one to 3 inches of snow with even more down the coast. Probably about three to six, maybe a couple of spots going higher than that. So, as youd expect when you look at the various model projections for philadelphia, you got a wide range. I dont want you to get too scared by this nam foot of snow, very likely in the next run that will come down again. We do think this one to 3inch variety of snowfall is that probably more likely. And of course the rpm really holding it all over to the east. It will depend on the track of the storm. When you weigh everything right now, though, this is what we think is the most likely scenario. About one to 3 inches falling in the Center Portion of the region. Three to 6 inches perhaps a couple of spots going a little bit higher in those coastal communities where we do have that winter storm warning out right now. And then a coating to an inch, maybe just a dusting in some spots and keep in mind that areas to the west theres going to be a really sharp cutoff between where youre getting nothing up to maybe 6inches over to the shore. The track also with these noreasters is always key. A little bit of a shift inland would raise the numbers. A shift out to sea would lower the numbers and either of those scenarios are still possible. But again, three to six down the shore and one to three inland seems likely. Shore impacts tonight into thursday would include significant travel delays with that snow and also remember strong wind gusts out of this noreaster will give you blowing and drifting snow. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast todays high 31 not as harsh. Get out there and get stuff done because of all tomorrows fun and then tomorrow a snowy start with snow probably dying down during the afternoon, 29 is your high. The action cam is live on the scene. We can see the cones set up. The concern is that theres some ice on the road. Theyve got crews out here dealing with this right now. So you can watch this right near the pizza shop. Were seeing traffic move at this point but can you see the shine there .
