What parents are saying tonight about the arrest of a counselor charged with sexual abusing a minor here at an exclusive local camp. Plus, millions of federal workers, their information already stolen. What some in congress tonight want to give them free for life. News4 at 11 starts now. New reaction from parents tonight about the arrest of a Camp Counselor in Montgomery County. Jose valenzuela is charged tonight with sexual abuse of a minor. His accuser, a student at the holton arms creative summer camp. News4s chris gordon outside the school tonight with more on these charges. Chris . Reporter well, the camp is called creative summer. And what police say happened here has created a reaction bordering on disbelief. When parents picked up their campers they learned that a counselor was arrested for sexual abusing a minor. Thats awful. Ive been sending my kids here since they were 3 years old. Thats incredibly surprising. Reporter 43yearold jose valenzuela, known as jolly, taught magic at the holton arms creative summer camp program. Charging documents say he inappropriately touched an 11yearold girl at the camp between june 30th and july 3rd putting his arms around her and asking her to sit on his lap. She told her parents and they called police. Valenzuela is being held at the Montgomery County detention center. Surprise. Weve been at holton arms for several years. And they have been so thorough in their background investigations. Safety has always been a priority. So i would be very surprised and very shocked. Reporter holtonarms school sent us this statement saying holtonarms puts the highest priority on the Emotional Wellbeing and safety of our students. We are and always have been committed to providing a secure environment for our children to learn and play. The school conducts comprehensive background checks of our summer counselors annually. We take these types of allegations very seriously. Do you still have confidence in the Creative Summer Program . I do. I do. Its a great school. And i guess it can happen anywhere. Reporter police want to know if it has happened before. Were asking if anybody who has attended the camp between 2012 and now, or has had any previous contact with mr. Valenzuela of an inappropriate nature to please contact us. Reporter now, the Montgomery County Police Special victims unit is conducting this investigation. Someone has been breaking into their vehicles while theyre parked in the fire station lot. Its been happening since april. At the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department in Montgomery County. These firefighters put their lives on the line every day, helping the community. And the last thing they need to deal with is walking out of this firehouse to their car or their suv and seeing that someone broke into it. Thats exactly what happened to them. Right now police want your help identifying the suspect. Here he is in this surveillance image. Investigators say he has been stealing items such as laptops out of cars and suvs in the back parking lot here at the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department building at 13900 old columbia pike. The suspect broke in the volunteer and career firefighters cars between april 10th and june. Tonight we talked to a captain here at the firehouse. Lets hear what he has to say. Roof was arrested in february carrying an illegal drug called suboxone. Its used to treat dependents on opiate drugs. Because of that arrest, his handgun application should have been denied. But when the fbi conducted a background check, they were directed to the wrong Police Department which had no record of his arrest. When i found this out, it made me angry you know. And i wasnt angry at dylann. I was angry at the system. I thought that being that it was an fbi check that they were very thorough. So i was surprised that they werent very thorough. The fbi director says he is sick over the mistake and wishes he could turn back time. Tonight, for the first time in more than 54 years, the Confederate Flag is not flying on the South Carolina state house grounds. Its now in a nearby museum. A chorus of cheers greeted the removal of the flag this morning in columbia. About 10,000 people packed the streets around the state house to witness the historic event. An African American man who carried that flag away talked about the significance of the moment. What did you feel while you were doing that . Back close to home, a man wanted for a high profile shooting and robbery could soon return to the region to face charges. We learned today Derrick Sprouse was indicted by a grand jury for the shooting of kelly wood at a fastmart store down in spotsylvania in march of 2014. Cameras caught the attack. Woods survived his fight, getting shot in the head. Sprouse is in jail in North Carolina on an unrelated charge. Last night we told you about new stronger warning labels on some very common medications. Theyre on drugs called nsaids like advil aleve and motrin and some arthritis meds. The fda says there is a higherest risk for heart attack or stroke with these painkillers. Today dr. Alan taylor joined us to talk about when you should take the drugs and what kinds of risks you might face. Youre always best getting away with the shortest treatment at the lowest strength. Ill zoom in on some of the heaviest rain along 66 right here as it makes waymans thatsis a, Fairfax County. Most of this is fairly light. Heaviest storm is right down towards southern Fauquier County, moving down 17 towards fredericksburg. But not a whole lot now. But thats going to be thats going to change as this area of low pressure, you can actually see a little bit of a spin here makes its way our way. As it does, youre going see all of this rain break out across our region. Its going to be here for a couple hours. Lets time it for you. The Flash Flood Watch watch back to the shenandoah valley. In and around the d. C. Metro area the prince george, d. C. Arlington county, Fairfax County, Prince William county, these interest same areas that saw all of that heavy rain the other day. Thats why we have a Flash Flood Watch in effect for these counties only. It doesnt include Montgomery County, Charles County or back towards loudoun county. But only in these areas. And we could see 1 to 2 inches of rain overnight. Lets time it out. As we make our way through the 5 00 hour, here comes the heaviest rain, right along 66. But notice to the north, not a whole lot going on up here. Yes, some rain in frederick. But nothing too heavy. Around the 7 00 hour, still look at this gradient. Nothing in hagerstown. Baltimore on the dry side. But d. C. And Fairfax County getting the bulk of this. As i said earlier i think Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland will see the most rain from this. By 9 00 it starts to move out of here. It will be done by around 10 00 or 11 00. And by 3 00 in the afternoon, we have sunshine. Still a couple light showers in parts of the area, but starting to break out. I think your saturday afternoon, and especially saturday evening is looking pretty good. What about rainfall . How much will we see here . As i mentioned we could see 1 to 2 inches. Look at this. 1 1 2 to 2 1 2 inches in the purple. Thats right there through montgomery or through Fairfax County, through Prince William county, the areas under the watch right on in towards the district. Thats what were going to be watching for tomorrow. If you have outdoor plans maybe get out play a little tennis, take a bike ride. Early rain will end and well see a dry afternoon. You may want to do it after about 9 00. Thats when i think things get a little better. If youre thinking about heading out to the pool, temperatures 81 to 86 degrees by afternoon. Not a good pool day say around 8 00, 9 00. I know we have swim meets early in the morning. Just going to be rain. Could see some thunder and lightning overnight tonight. 90 degrees on sunday. Sunday not bad. Its going to be hot but its not going to be humid. So sunday looking pretty good. Monday looking pretty good as well with a high of 89. Then tuesday, watch another storm system that will move our way. Look at the high. 94 on tuesday. Good chance for not just strong storms, but the potential is there for some severe weather.
