Manager jay dee says he has compassion for the emergency situation but notes the restaurant was fully staffed for a busy friday night during the holiday season. We hear from some people that its going to be, like, six hours and some people say its four or ten. And, you know, we have commitments. Its a difficult situation because, you know, we have staff that we have to keep on and we dont know how to handle that because were a small business. He tells us they have compassion for the shooter is not only a good friend, hes also a purple heart recipient. Mark harry says his son, caleb, liked spending time at the home of his neighbor. Two weeks ago, mark received a ca accidentally shot caleb while he was putting his gun away. That friend quickly jumped into action and took caleb to joint andrews base hospital. He was traumatized because to him, they are like best friends. Hes actually taking therapy for what happened because ptsd kicked in after all of this. And i couldnt lose both a friend and my son at the same time. Caleb has had multiple surgeries, but tonight, hes on the mend at childrens hospital. Today we learned that High School Student found dead in a wooded area in bethesda over the weekend died from a combination of alcohol poisoning, drowning, and hypothermia. Officials tell us it was a tragic accident after a house party where there was underaged 4 earlier this week believes police could have done more to find his son before it was too late. Heres a live look at the church in northwest washington tonight. The cathedral hosted its Carol Service with an increased poce online threats and images from the Islamic State that featured the washington National Cathedral. The fbi has been monitoring these images. It says there is no indication of an actual planned attack and the extra security were told is a precaution. Part of the red line will close this weekend so metro can finish replacing a communications cable. Metros been limiting the number of trains at the brookland, tacoma park stations this week. Starting tomorrow free shuttle buses will replace the trains between the Silver Spring and rhode island avenue stops. Metro hopes to restore full service by monday. Even more changes are coming on the other end of the red line. This time so metro can waterproof parts of the system. Metro has successfully tested a waterproofing method that helps keep the tunnels dry and improves reliability. So now the rail system is exp d expanding it. Sandra men tez ortega confessed to stealing three rings from a house in fairfax city last year. Jurors convicted her of a felony and she could have faced 20 instead, they gave her a 60 fine and offered to compensate her. Ortega told us she was a 19yearold mother of two who wanted to provide for her children. I could see in her that she was a good person. One of the female jurors pulled out a 20 bill, said, i want to help pay for her fine. The victim told the Washington Post that ortega never fully accepted responsibility for her crime and that she initially denied stealing the rings before giving them back. Its kind of fun to just drive around and see all the lights. Reporter the judges recognize michelles creativity with the snowballs, reindeer, icicle lights, a penguin, oh, and you cant forget snoopy. I think snoopy brings us back to our childhood. Reporter michelle put up her lights a couple weeks ago. She climbed this ladder and wrapped them around this tree. People who drive around here and her neighbors like her dedication and Christmas Spirit. You can see a lot of these homes are quiet around here. Shes loud with her christmas enthusiasm. Extreme cold. Were going to have problems on through early tomorrow morning. Tonight, lots of black ice. Weve seen it on roadways. Slick sidewalks. Thats a big issue. A very cold start to the day tomorrow. Warming tomorrow afternoon. Thats going to be the trend as we head in toward the next couple of days. On the radar we are looking at nothing around the city, but i mentioned some clouds. Also some snow showers up here toward the north up around hagersto hagerstown, frederick. Dont be surprised to see snow flurries if youre letting the dog out late or taking a latenight walk in the cold. It is going to be continued cold t now, chilly. High temperatures as i mentioned average in the mid 40s in this time of year. I think were going to be right around there. Take a look at where our flow is, though. Notice out of indianapolis, out of canada, coming down around our rege. Region. Were starting to see the trough of low pressure that brings the cold air starting to move off toward the east. Were going to start to warm things over the next couple days. Wakeup weather, need the warm coat at 7 00 a. M. 30 degrees at 7 00 a. M. 32 by 8 00. 34 by 9 00. Starting to get breezy. Once again, the wind is going to be a little bit of a factor tomorrow. Not as big of a factor, but breezy and cool. So even with plenty of sunshine, a high of 46, its still going to feel like were in the 30s for the most part out there on your saturday. So just be ready for that.
