Du pont home has 175 rooms on nine floors, and exhibits, over 90,000 objects that were collected by Henry Frances du pont, winterthur this year is taking a look at holiday traditions of the mid 19th, to the mid 20th century. As you walk into the hallway you will see this beautiful, tree, and, it is part of yuletide. This tree was designed, to recreate the correspondence nation gown of Queen Elizabeth the second. You will see a beautiful recreation, of a royal crown, and our designer, max trueact was on holiday inn london and went to Buckingham Palace just to get that crown to put on our tree. Now this is a dining room, liz. Yes, it is, as you can see mr. Dupont really enjoyed entertaining, hosting dinners. This is a room where family had dinner every day. Wow select personally the linens, the chine, everything that you see on the table and he would do so based on what flowers were available at the time that day. So here we have red orchid which he chose for christmas no detail was overlooked. Here we are in the entertaining room, or, modern day equivalent might be called the party room, if you will, they have the tree there ts year. We have steinway piano that mrs. Du pont played, very accomplished piano player. Those are market baskets filled with gifts for family members, and other guests that would come here. Interesting thing about this Christmas Tree in particular is that it is a reproduction or a representation of the actual tree that the du ponts had here, in the early 1930s. It is, to represent the first Christmas Tree that they had, that had electrical lighting. Now electrical lighting in the 1930s was available but it was very expensive. Here we are in what i consider to be one of the most magnificent rooms here, the stair hall this magnificent staircase was installed over a period of a year by mr. Du pont, and when one of his daughters got married she actually came down from here and threw her bouquet to the ground below. This, liz absolutely spectacular, what are we seeing here. This is the beloved, dry flower tree, and that day that debuted here in 1985 and it is intended to convey, and honor love of Henry Frances du pont had for his garden. He was an Award Winning horticulture expert and gardener. The aroma is amazing. So wonderful. Lets move on. Okay. Well, thomas, this was certainly a magical room for little ones. It shows parties henry and ruth would throw for people that worked here with his children. President du pont would go over to wanamakers at augusteen cut off after hours and store manager would leave the store opened and mr. Du pont would go in and hand select all presents. Mr. Du pont would bring in magic acts, professional musicians, and dancers, and it just delighted the children and wow always sit in the front row because he took such pleasure in the joy that this brought the children and the families and it was a very special day for him. Were here in the court, and this is an early 19th Century Village square, that was created by henry du pont and it has the fisods of buildings of north caroline, new port, rhode island and red lion inn in delaware.
