âSpring is a dangerous time for brush fires,â said Woodbury Fire Chief Janet B. Morgan. âLeaf litter and broken branches from winter dry out quickly and can burn a wide area.â With that in mind, 15 Woodbury volunteer firefighters ran through a practice drill on Saturday March 27. Deputy Chief Dave Lampart reviewed the pump operation on the departmentâs brush-truck fire-fighting vehicle. Former Chief Bud Neal, in charge of the exercise, lit a controlled grass fire on the meadow in front of department headquarters and set firefighters to extinguish the blaze. Above, Firefighter Mitch Chester raked out burning leaves during the drill.
