Yakima Firefighters Busy on Wednesday at Two Fires Yakima Fire Department Firefighters were busy with a fire Wednesday in the 800 block of South 16th Avenue. Firefighters were called to the home at about 2:34 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived they found a two-story home fully engulfed in flames. Authorities say the flames were threatening other homes. Six people were able to escape the fire. One person was treated at the scene for minor burns. The six people are now being helped by the American Red Cross. Investigators say the cause of the fire is believe to be tied to the electrical system in the home. Damage is estimated at $200,000. Fire officials say the fire severely damaged the home. A nearby home was also damaged because of the fire.
