Helping young adults overcome the challenges of finding a livable wage job with upward mobility is the goal of a new program called Year Up Pittsburgh.
The program offers Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh (HACP) residents six months of technical and professional skills training followed by a six month professional internship.
HCAP residents will be referred through the authority’s Resident Employment Program directly to Year Up.
“We’re working as hard as we can to connect young Pittsburgh residents with opportunities and careers, and YUPGH is another great model of the partnerships we need to make those efforts as successful and meaningful as possible,” said Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto.
